Lang Son officials inspects Huu Nghi international border gate

(LSO) – A working delegation of the People’s Committee of Lang Son province led by its Vice Chairman Nguyen Cong Truong inspected export-import of goods and tax and fee collection work at the Huu Nghi International Border Gate in Dong Dang town, Cao Loc district, on August 21.

According to reports presented at the working session between the delegation and the border gate management board, since the beginning of the year, security and order at the border gate has been ensured; the border markers are well protected, while import and export activities and immigration activities have been stable; and the collection of taxes and fees at the border gate has been complied with regulations.

During the period from the beginning of the year to August 12, total turnover of export-import activities through the border gate hit 1.18 billion USD, up 4 percent compared to the same period last year (of the figure, export turnover stood at 488 million USD and import turnover, 691 million USD). Nearly 1.9 trillion VND worth of export-import tax was collected for the budget by August 15, up 59.6 percent year-on-year. The application of software for managing entry-exit activities and export-import goods at the border gate has been implemented effectively.

At the working session, delegates discussed a number of issues related to ensuring security and social order and tax and fee collection at the border gate; as well as measures to promote cross-border export-import activities and movement.

Speaking at the working session, Vice Chairman Truong asked competent forces at the border gate to continue to remove difficulties and create more favourable conditions for enterprises to prevent the piling up of goods at the border gate; ensure the management of tax and fee collection in line with regulations and prevent economic loss; and ensure security and order, and traffic safety.

Relevant agencies and the People’s Committee of Cao Loc district were required to enhance their management of land and construction activities, and strictly handle relevant violations.

The official also stressed the need to roll out specific roadmaps for land clearance for projects at the border gate area.

The border guard, customs and police forces were ordered to strictly control vehicles going through the border gate.

Truong instructed setting up a delegation to work with the Chinese side to decide the time for electronic stamping for vehicles, to avoid affecting import and export activities.

Coordination among forces should be strengthened to effectively deal with smuggling and trade fraud, he said.
