Lang Son leaders work with Viet Bac Mining Industry Holding Corp.

(LSO) – On August 21, a delegation of the People’s Committee of Lang Son province led by its Vice Chairman Ho Tien Thieu had a working session with the Viet Bac Mining Industry Holding Corporation.

At the meeting, the company’s representative delivered a preliminary report on the performance of its Na Duong coal company in the first eight months of 2019. Accordingly, during the period, the company produced and distributed 376,659 tonnes of clean coal, meeting 73.1 percent of the yearly target. It earned 367 billion VND in revenue, contributed 98 billion VND to the State budget and created jobs for 529 workers with an average monthly income of 7.2 million VND.

A number of difficulties related to land clearance for expansion of coal mines and waste dumping sites were also mentioned.

The company asked for the local authorities’ support in tackling such issues and approval of a project to build a resettlement area in Dong Quan commune, Loc Binh district.

Concluding the meeting, Thieu requested the Viet Bac Mining Industry Holding Corporation to work with local authorities in addressing obstacles, particularly land clearance for the project to expand the third-phase of the coal mine and waste dumping site, ensuring adequate materials for the Na Duong thermal power plant.

Regarding the Dong Quan resettlement project, relevant departments and sectors as well as the People’s Committee of Loc Binh district were assigned to join hands with the Viet Bac Mining Industry Holding Corporation and the Na Duong coal company in dealing ưith problems related to construction area and investment procedures so that the project could be implemented on schedule.

The delegation examines the third phase waste dumping site expansion project of the Na Duong coal company.

 The Viet Bac Mining Industry Holding Corporation, meanwhile, must obey State regulations during its investment in infrastructure and handing over land to people.

Earlier, the delegation toured several construction sites and the Na Duong company’s wastewater treatment area.
