More than 300 artisans, artists, actors attended the 1st Lang Son Folk Music Festival

(LSO) – On August 4, in Van Quan district, the Provincial Folk Music Conservation Association collaborated with Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Van Quan District People’s Committee to organize the opening ceremony of the 1st Lang Son Folk Music Festival in 2020.

Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; the leaders of provincial departments, committees and agencies; the leaders of Van Quan District Party Committee and People’s Committee, District and City People’s Committees.

Participating in the Festival were more than 300 amateur artisans, artists, actors from 10 districts and a city with 50 repertoires including many types of folk songs and dances bearing the identities of ethnic groups: Kinh, Tay, Nung, Dao, Hoa, H’mong, San Chay and so on.

The folk songs praised the Party and Uncle Ho; praising Lang Son’s typical revolutionists such as Mr.Hoang Van Thu and Mr. Luong Van Tri; Xu Lang culture associated with tourism development, hometown change and so forth.

The festival is an opportunity to honor, promote and introduce the values ​​of folk songs, folk dances, folk music, Xu Lang’s cultural characteristics to people in the province and in the whole country. At the same time, it helps artisans and members of folk music clubs in the province meet, exchange and learn from each other, as well as discover and foster new people, especially the young generation.

This is also a practical activity to celebrate national and provincial public holidays, especially the 110th birthday anniversary of Mr. Luong Van Tri (August 17, 1910 – August 17, 2020), the Communist loyalist, the outstanding son of Xu Lang’s homeland.

At the opening ceremony, the leader of Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded certificates of merit to 10 artisans with achievements participating in the 1st Lang Son Folk Music Festival in 2020.

On the morning of August 5, the Organizing Committee is expected to summarize and award prizes. It is known that the award structure includes the program prize (the whole team prize) and the repertoire prize. In particular, the whole team prize consists of four prizes: first, second, third, encouraging. Repertoire prizes: A, B, C, encouraging and thematic prizes for the oldest artisan and the youngest performer.
