Lang Son: 20 dossiers eligible to review and award the titles of “the People’s Artisan”, “Artisan of Excellence” in the field of intangible cultural heritage

(LSO) – On August 20, Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Chairman of the Board of Reviewing and Awarding the titles of “the People’s Artisan”, “Artisan of Excellence” presided over the meeting of the Board of Reviewing and Awarding the titles of “the People’s Artisan”, “Artisan of Excellence” in the field of Lang Son province’s intangible cultural heritage in 2021 for the third time.

According to the report, as of June 15, 2020, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the standing body of the Board received 23 dossiers from individuals applying for the titles “the People’s Artisan”, “Artisan of Excellence” (in which, there are four dossiers applying for the title of ” the People’s Artisan”, 19 dossiers for the title of “Artisan of Excellence”).

At the meeting, after listening to the report of the representative of Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on each individual’s dossier; the delegates discussed, analyzed and compared with the prescribed conditions and standards, the Board of Reviewing and Awarding Titles voted to select the dossiers to send to the superior board for consideration.

Accordingly, 11 out of 11 votes of the Board’s members agreed to select 20 out of 23 dossiers eligible to proceed the procedure to report to Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to submit to Prime Minister to consider awarding the titles “the People’s Artisan”, “Artisan of Excellence” (in which, there are three dossiers for the title of “the People’s Artisan”, 17 dossiers for the title of “Artisan of Excellence”, focusing on types: performance folk arts, folk knowledge, social customs and beliefs).

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee asked Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to continue reviewing and completing individuals’ dossiers, fully meeting the criteria in accordance with the Regulation on reviewing and awarding titles in the Government’s Decree No. 62 dated June 25, 2014; publicizing selection results on the mass media.

At the same time, it is required to continue to promote propaganda and guide districts and the city to select typical individuals in other areas of intangible cultural heritages, to further honor artisans’ contributions and dedication in the work of preserving the province’s cultural heritages.
