Lang Son leaders work with NA budget inspection team

(LSO) – On September 18, an inspection team from the National Assembly (NA) Committee for Financial and Budgetary Affairs, led by its Deputy Head Dinh Van Nha, had a working session with the Lang Son People’s Committee to examine the local implementation of the national budget for 2019 and budget plan for 2020.

The meeting saw the participation of Nguyen Cong Truong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, local NA deputies, and leaders of some provincial departments and sectors.

Between January and July, Lang Son collected close to 4 trillion VND (172.3 million USD) for the national budget, meeting 80.1 percent of the yearly target and increasing 37.23 percent year-on-year. The figure is projected to hit over 6 trillion VND this year, surpassing the target by 23.1 percent and growing 10.5 percent from 2018.

During the seven-month period, the provincial budget expenditure totaled nearly 5.3 trillion VND, which is projected to reach more than 11.7 trillion VND for the entire year.

As a result of the discussion between the local authorities and the Finance Ministry, in 2020, Lang Son is tasked with collecting over 5.8 trillion VND and spending more than 8.8 trillion VND.

At the working session, Truong presented a number of proposals related to budget spending and the use of toll collection from infrastructure, service, and public facilities in border gate areas. Specific regulations for duration of owing fees for changing land use purposes, and the use of bills among household businesses were also mentioned.

Nha praised Lang Son’s socio-economic achievements so far this year and its budget management which, he said, has been carried out in a proactive and efficient manner.

He asked relevant local agencies to suggest breakthrough solutions for economic development and requested the province to boost its spending on investment and compensation for those suffering losses caused by the African swine fever disease.

Regarding Lang Son’s proposals, he said they will be submitted to relevant agencies for further consideration.
