Lang Son forces honoured for achievements in 116T Project

(LSO) – The People’s Committee of Lang Son province on September 18 held a ceremony to honour outstanding organisations which recorded major achievements in 116T Project.

The event was attended by Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, and head of the Anti-Crime Steering Committee (Steering Committee 138) of the locality Pham Ngoc Thuong; and Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and head of Steering Committee 389 of Lang Son Nguyen Cong Truong.

Implementing a project established by the provincial Border Guard Command on busting a ring smuggling and trafficking firecrackers from China to Vietnam, at 7:15 pm on September 5, 2019, at Thinh Vuong parking lot in Tan Thanh border gate, Ban Dau hamlet, Tan Thanh commune, Van Lang district, the force tasked with preventing drugs and crimes under the provincial Border Guard Command in coordination with the border guards’ station at the Tan Thanh border gate, units of the provincial police, and the Tan Thanh border gate’s customs department, seized a container truck with the number plate No. 57M-O351, which was towing a trailer with the number plate No. 51R-128.25 driven by Dinh Kim Hoang, born in 1990, in Tien Hoi, Nhon Thanh ward, An Nhon town, Binh Dinh province.

A check of the vehicle by the forces discovered 500 cardboard boxes, each containing 18 boxes of firecracker with a total weight of nearly 13 tonnes.

At the honouring ceremony, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Pham Ngoc Thuong praised the forces for their coordination in successfully dealing with the case.

He asked the forces to further strengthen their coordination in patrolling, controlling and preventing effectively counterfeit, illegal and contraband goods across the border, and breaking illegal smuggling rings, thus contributing to maintaining security and order in the province.

Thuong presented seven units from the forces of customs, border guards and police joining the project with 10 million VND each.
