The National Steering Committee 389 summarizes work in the first 6 months of 2022

On the morning of August 4, 2022, at the Government Headquarters, the National Steering Committee for Prevention and Fight against smuggling, commercial fraud and counterfeit goods (National Steering Committee 389) organized a conference to review the work of the first 6 months of 2022 and implemented key tasks in the coming time.

Mr. Pham Binh Minh, Politburo member, Standing Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the National Steering Committee  389 attended and chaired the conference.

In Lang Son province, attending the conference were Mr. Luong Trong Quynh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of the  Provincial Steering Committee 389.

In the first 6 months of the year, the National Steering Committee 389, the Steering Committee 389 of ministries, sectors, localities and functional forces actively and effectively implemented the Government’s resolutions and directives, developed and implemented annual work plan, plan against smuggling, commercial fraud and counterfeit goods at before, during and after the 2022 Lunar New Year; focused forces and means and synchronously used combined measures to control and prevent the COVID-19 pandemic while actively and fiercely fighting smuggling, commercial fraud and counterfeiting.

As a result, functional forces nationwide detected and handled 54,199 violations (down 25.05% over the same period in 2021). In which, 5,243 cases of illegal trading and transportation of banned and smuggled goods (down 53.72% over the same period in 2021); 47,781 cases of commercial fraud, tax fraud (decreased by 4.72% over the same period in 2021); over 1,000 cases of counterfeit goods and intellectual property violations (down 90.61% over the same period in 2021). Collection and payment to the state budget is 3,728 billion VND.

At the conference, the delegates focused on discussing and evaluating the achieved results and pointed out the difficulties and limitations in the fight against smuggling, commercial fraud and counterfeiting in the first 6 months of 2022. At the same time, they proposed solutions to implement in the future.

Concluding speech at the conference, Mr. Standing Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the National Steering Committee 389 acknowledged the efforts of all functional forces in the country in the fight against smuggling, commercial fraud and counterfeit goods in the first 6 months of 2022.

He suggested that in the coming time, the National Steering Committee 389 as well as the Steering Committee 389 of localities should strictly implement the directives on the prevention of smuggling, commercial fraud and counterfeiting; continue to review the difficulties and obstacles in the provisions of law, coordination mechanism and other conditions in order to propose, supplement and amend in time, step by step perfect the institution to improve the effectiveness of fighting against smuggling, commercial fraud; strengthen coordination between forces, develop plans suitable to the new situation.

In Lang Son province, in the first 6 months of 2022, functional forces in the province inspected, detected and handled 1,732 cases, equaling 64.53% over the same period in 2021; the amount of money handled for administrative violations is over 21.6 billion VND, equaling 55.04% over the same period. The functional forces have prosecuted 162 cases, 239 subjects, of which: 2 cases, 10 subjects of smuggling and illegally transporting goods and currency across the border; 2 cases, 3 subjects transported, stored and traded firecrackers; 8 cases of forest destruction; 150 cases, 226 subjects of drug transport, possession and trafficking.
