Continuing to effectively implement care, education and protection programs for the children

On the morning of December 11, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (DOLISA) coordinated with Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Education and Training, Provincial Youth Union to organize Children’s Forum of Lang Son province in 2022 with the theme “Together protecting children, speaking up to prevent abuse and violence against children”.

Attending the program were Mrs. Doan Thu Ha, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Dinh Huu Hoc, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council; leaders of departments, sectors and mass organizations of the province, districts and Lang Son city.

Children raise their opinions at the forum

Over the years, the Party committees and authorities at all levels have always paid attention to implementing social welfare policies, including many programs for children which have been implemented synchronously and effectively in the fields of health, culture, education… thereby contributing to improving living conditions and alleviating difficulties for children, especially children with special circumstances, poor children, children in remote areas, children of ethnic minorities.

In addition to the achieved results, there are still limits in the protection, care and education of children in the province. From 2020 to the end of the third quarter of 2022, there have been 53 cases with 56 children being abused in the province; more than 400 children being injured in accidents, traffic accidents, drowning…

At the forum, the delegates listened to children express their dreams, aspirations and concerns about problems at school and in society, including domestic violence, abuse, drowning… During the program, there was a dialogue between children and leaders of departments and agencies on matters of children’s concern such as teenage pregnancy; prevention of social evils; prevention of risks in cyberspace; violence against children, reliable addresses to protect children…

Speaking at the forum, the Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee requested all levels and sectors to continue to raise awareness about and effectively implement child care, education and protection. At the same time, they should join hands and strengthen coordination in organizing practical activities for children, especially children living in remote and extremely difficult areas.

DOLISA – the standing agency in charge of children work was asked to continue to coordinate with relevant departments and sectors to review, propose and recommend amendments and supplements to complete the legal system on the care, education and protection of children in the direction of expanding social welfare policies for children, especially children from poor families, remote and ethnic minority areas in association with the National Action Program for Children in the period of 2021 – 2030; to build safe, friendly schools and a strong community.

For children, the Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee suggested that after the forum, they should share with their friends and relatives the content and knowledge that they have learned and received to further inform others about children’s issues such as prevention of accidents and injuries, prevention of violence, child abuse, school violence, etc. at the same time, to actively exercise their health, study hard, cultivate morality and ideals to realize their dreams and ambitions.

During the program, children sent their recommendations on the message of the Forum 2022 to the leaders of the province, relevant departments board and sectors. On this occasion, the leader of the Provincial People’s Committee presented gifts to 100 children delegates at the forum and 100 students from schools in the city participating in the forum.
