Chairman of provincial People’s Committee inspects Hoang Dong hotel-golf course project

(LSO) – A working team of the provincial People’s Committee led by Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Pham Ngoc Thuong on October 4 inspected the pace of the Hoang Dong hotel-golf course project.

According to the Department of Planning and Investment, the project was first granted a licence in early 2004, but after 15 years, it has not been completed.

The project, which covers 202ha of land, has a total investment of 61.5 million USD. The deadline for completing construction of all items was changed for the fourth time on May 8, 2018. Accordingly, the construction of the resettlement quarter, an 18-hole golf course and a five-star hotel must be completed at the end of 2020. The investor of the project is the Lang Son international joint venture.

The People’s Committee of Lang Son city has handed over to the investor 137.8 ha of land, including 10.47 ha for the resettlement quarter which has a total area of 12.7 ha.

However, construction work has not been started or is being done at a very slow pace.

At the working session with the investor, representatives from the Lang Son city’s People’s Committee asked the company to pay more than 12 billion VND that it still owes in order to pay for land clearance, and to accelerate the construction of the resettlement quarter. Officials from other relevant agencies suggested solutions to remove difficulties in implementing the project.

Concluding the meeting, the Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee stressed that the provincial authorities have provided the maximum support to the investor, but the investor lacks all the necessary conditions, from management to financial resources, to implement the project, resulting in delay that negatively affects the investment environment of the province and the life of people in the area.

He required the province’s agencies to quickly handle any proposals under their jurisdiction from the investor, but affirmed that the provincial People’s Committee will not further extend the time for the project. He requested that all related sides to strictly follow the content of the investment licence granted to the investor in May last year.
