Opening the traditional festival and announcing the decision to recognize Tan Thanh Pagoda as a tourist spot

On the morning of January 30 (ie the 9th of January in the year of the Cat), At Tan Thanh Pagoda, Van Lang district, the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Lang Son province coordinated with the People’s Committee of Van Lang district to organize the opening of the traditional festival and announce the Decision on recognition of Tan Thanh Pagoda as a tourist spot.

Attending were Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Tourism Development; representatives of departments, divisions, sectors, mass organizations, armed forces of the province, leaders of People’s Committees of districts and city; delegation of Yen The district (Bac Giang province), Vo Nhai district (Thai Nguyen province) and a large number of people in the area.

Tan Thanh Pagoda was built in 2015, officially inaugurated and held the festival since 2017. The pagoda consists of 3 areas: the main shrine (Tam Bao Palace), the shrine to Saint Tran, the shrine to the Holy Mother and the Tam Quan gate. The architecture of the temple is imbued with the culture of the Vietnamese people.

Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee awarded the Decision recognizing Tan Thanh Pagoda as a tourist destination of the province to the leaders of the People’s Committee of Van Lang District and the Abbot of Tan Thanh Pagoda.

On August 30, 2022, the Provincial People’s Committee issued Decision No. 1418/QD-UBND on the recognition of Tan Thanh Pagoda as a tourist destination.  During the program, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee presented the decision to recognize Tan Thanh Pagoda as a tourist destination of the province to the leaders of the People’s Committee of Van Lang district and the abbot of Tan Thanh Pagoda.

In the program, the Organizing Committee opened the traditional festival of Tan Thanh Pagoda. After 3 years of suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year, the festival is expanded with many new and attractive activities compared to previous years such as: displaying OCOP’s cuisine, products, and local products; ; displaying products about cultural heritage (lion and cat mask, traditional national costume, gourd lute…). In addition, the Festival Organizing Committee also arranged space at the main stage for cultural and art clubs in the district to exchange and perform performances of then singing, zither, sli singing, and modern dancing…

A large number of people and tourists visit and experience the booths displayed at the festival

Notably, within the framework of this festival, the People’s Committee of Van Lang district organized a lion dance contest of the Tay – Nung ethnic group with many special performances by the competition teams from communes and towns in the district area.

The lion and cat dance performance of the competition team of Hoi Hoan, Van Lang district attracted the attention of a large number of people participating in the festival.

This is the festival selected as the tourist destination of Van Lang district in 2023. The festival attracts a large number of tourists to come and enjoy, visit and experience.
