Discussing the model of experiential tourism, learn about cultural history in Van Linh commune, Chi Lang district

On the afternoon of February 15, Lang Son Geopark Management Board coordinated with the People’s Committee of Chi Lang district to hold a meeting to discuss the model of “Experience tourism, learning about cultural history in Van Linh commune, Chi Lang district”.

Van Linh commune has great potential for tourism development in Lang Son Geopark. The commune currently has more than 1,400 households, including more than 200 households producing dry noodles, supplying to markets inside and outside the province, with an output of about 1,000 tons/year. In 2018, the commune’s dry noodles was registered for collective trademark protection. In addition to dried noodles, Van Linh is also famous for its specialty golden chicken breed. The whole commune currently has 70% of households and 1 chicken farming cooperative with an output of about 60,000 chickens/year.

Realizing these potentials, the Provincial Geopark Management Board selected Van Linh commune to build the model “Experience travel, learn about cultural history” from the replicate the model to many other localities in Lang Son Geopark.

At the meeting, the delegates focused on discussing obstacles and difficulties in implementation; model funding. Delegates also offered solutions to implement effective model building such as: improving the responsibility of the community in environmental protection, sustainable tourism development; cooperating in building a model of a tourist village to experience and learn about history and culture in Van Linh and some other places in the district; building a brand of dry noodles, Van Linh golden chicken associated with Lang Son Geopark logo, aiming to associate with global Geopark logo…

Through the above activities, the district contribute to exploiting the tourism potential in Van Linh commune, Chi Lang district in particular and Geopark in general. Thereby, it help the province meet the criteria and requirements of UNESCO in the recognition of a global geopark.
