The Secretary of the City Youth Union with various initiatives

Luong Dinh Chung, born in 1988, Secretary of the Lang Son City Youth Union is an official who is loved by union members, youth and people of wards and communes in Lang Son city because of his closeness, sincerity, creativity and enthusiasm in the pioneer and volunteer activities of the City Youth Union. Recently, he was honored to receive Ly Tu Trong Prize in 2022 by the Central Youth Union, the highest award of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

Luong Dinh Chung served at the Provincial Youth Union from 2013, to 2015, he moved to Lang Son City Youth Union, in 2021, he was elected to be the Secretary of the City Youth Union. While serving as an official of the youth union, he not only enthusiastically participated in activities organized by the city union, but also proposed many initiatives and solutions to attract and gather young people in the city to join youth unions, youth associations and leading union members and young people to healthy and useful playgrounds and meaningful activities to the community and society.

The effective initiative by Chung that has been implementing is “Some solutions to attract and gather youth union members and establish a non-state business youth union organization”. The main solution of the initiative is to improve the position and role of the Youth Union; to gather young people through mutual hobby, cultural and sports activities; to gather young people through the start-up movement; to develop youth union and association in non-state businesses. Applying these solutions, from 2017 to now, the Standing Committee of the City Youth Union has established 15 new youth unions and associations (10 unions, 5 associations), 4 clubs (hairdressers, start-ups of the young, young theorists, young city tour guides), contributing to raising the recruiment rate to 75%, 12% higher than the national average.

Implementing the project “Young tour guide of Lang Son city in the period of 2018 – 2022” approved by the City Party Committee, he directly met with businesses,  restaurants, hotels and motels in the city to make a list with their detailed pictures and service prices with the aim of serving tourists and people in the province; he together with the Standing Committee of the City Youth Union to used QR code to record a “food street – food tour” with short videos about the addresses of delicious dishes and beautiful space in Phu Loc 4 urban area and posted them on the internet, contributing to promoting city tourism. In order to help youth union members and young people meet successful entrepreneurs and individuals with successful start-up, in 2022, he came up with the program “Start-up coffee” for experience exchange and connection to sell products. Every year, he advises the City Party Committee to set up the Summer Steering Committee from city level smaller levels. The Summer Steering Committee organizes summer activities in residential areas such as full moon festival, community dance, folk dance, teaching swimming and organizing swimming tournaments, summer activities in the villages or blocks every week. Up to now, Lang Son city is the only unit in the province that has  Summer Steering Committees at all levels.

In addition, Chung and the Standing Committee of the City Youth Union have encouraged youth union members and young people to participate in activities of development of new rural area, civilized urban and social welfare in the province. In 2022 alone, the City Youth Union successfully completed 3/5 tasks, completed 2/5 tasks, particularly building 12 projects with a total value of 150 million VND, supporting 5 models of economic development and start-up; organizing career orientation, equipping social practice skills, sharing about choosing a job and learning environment to over 7,000 union members and young people; built 5 works of “lighting up village roads”, 25 playgrounds for children; concreting 3.5 km of rural roads… These contribute to fulfilling the socio-economic development targets of the city and the province.

Talking about his contributions to the union work and youth movement in the city, Chung shared: “I always focus on organizing activities to meet the legitimate needs of young people in start-up; providing legal knowledge and social skills; creating a playground to promote the talents of union members and youth. In order to promote effective activities, the Standing Committee of the City Youth Union and I have researched, proposed and applied many new ways to attract a large number of youth union members and young people.”

Le Thuy Dung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union said: “Luong Dinh Chung has the qualities of a leader with creative and dynamic thinking, and he regularly renews the form of activities. His initiatives have contributed to enhancing the ability to attract and gather young people in the area, promoting the strong and comprehensive development of the youth union movement. This is a typical example for other officials as well as youth union members and young people to follow.”

With his initiatives as well as contributions to youth union activities and youth movements, at the end of February 2023,  Luong Dinh Chung received Ly Tu Trong Award by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of 2023. This is the noble award of the Central Youth Union for typical officials who have made outstanding achievements in labor, work and performance of assigned professional and political tasks.
