More than 10,000 people participate in Tro Ngo Festival

On the morning of February 19 (10th of the first lunar month), Huu Lung district People’s Committee held the opening ceremony of the 2024 Tro Ngo festival in Yen Thinh commune.

Attending were Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Doan Thanh Son, the representatives of departments, boards, sectors and unions of the province, leaders of People’s Committees of districts, Lang Son city and many people in the area.

Tro Ngo Festival is a traditional folk festival, held every two years on 10th of the first lunar month. The festival recreates the tradition of fighting against foreign invaders, the contribution of forming villages, protecting people’s lives of the two nobles Thuong Dang Than Duc Thanh Lang Cao Dieu Dich Cat and Doctor Vu Loi Quan Cong.

The festival contains the aspirations and wishes of the People for a prosperous, happy life and a bountiful harvest. The festival also demonstrates the strong relationships within families, the cohesion of the community in participating in organizing festival and performances… Thereby, it contributes to educating generations of about the origin of the nation.

With its typical value, Tro Ngo Festival was included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism under Decision No. 1852/QD-BVHTTDL dated May 8, 2017.

In the festival, the Organizing Committee beat the opening drum along with special art performances of lion and dragon dances.

Participating in the festival, visitors could experience traditional folk games and performances such as stomping dancing, fighting Ba Dau post, grooming game (Scholar- Farmer – Engineer – Trader), game recreating thunder – lightning – rain, games recreating wet rice farming, Cheo singing performances… Besides, visitors could also visit booths displaying local specialty products and experience the cuisine of communes in the district.

This year, Tro Ngo festival was chosen as the highlight festival of Huu Lung district. According to the Organizing Committee, the festival attracted more than 10,000 visitors.
