Lang Son promotes Chi Lang custard-apple, local specialities in Hanoi

(LSO) – The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the northern province of Lang Son, in coordination with the Trade Promotion Centre of Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, on August 16 kicked off a fair of safe agricultural products and week promoting the province’s Chi Lang custard-apple and other local specialities at the exhibition fair and economic-trade transaction area at 489 Hoang Quoc Viet Street, Hanoi.

Present at the opening ceremony were Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Ho Tien Thieu and many officials from the province as well as respresentatives of ministries and central agencies, businesses and cooperatives from Lang Son and Hanoi.

The safe agricultural product fair and the week promoting Chi Lang custard-apple are taking place from August 16 to 21 with over 100 pavillions, including 29 booths introducing Lang Son’s specialities such as Chi Lang custard-apple, Bac Son mandarin, Van Lang persimmon, Lang Son star aniseed, Trang Dinh black jelly, and Mau Son wine.

The events also offer visitors agricultural products of enterprises and cooperatives from across the country.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Lang Son provincial People’s Committee Ho Tien Thieu said the event is useful in promoting local agricultural and food products that are protected with geographical indications and collective trademarks to a large number of domestic and foreign consumers.

He affirmed that Lang Son wants to cooperate with businesses and will support them to remove difficulties through effectively policies, mechanisms and measures, thus creating the best conditions for businesses to develop.

Right after the opening ceremony, the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Trade Promotion Centre of Agriculture jointly held a forum to connect the production and marketing of Chi Lang custard-apple and other Lang Son specialities.

Representatives of Lang Son city and districts informed participants about the production and sales of Chi Lang custard-apple and other agricultural products such as Van Lang and Bao Lam persimmon, and safe vegetables in Lang Son city.

Businesses, cooperatives sign Memoranda of Understanding on cooperation to develop value chains in production and sales of farm produce and safe food

Businesses and cooperatives from Hanoi expressed their hope to know about Lang Son special agricultural products ahead the harvesting season so that they can plan ahead for supplying and trading. They also mentioned stardards set for products sold in Hanoi supermarkets and clean food chain stores.

At the forum, businesses and cooperatives in and outside Lang Son province signed five Memoranda of Understanding on cooperation to develop value chains in production and sales of farm produce and safe food.
