Provincial leader works with Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism

(LSO) – A delegation of the provincial People’s Committee led by its Vice Chairman Duong Xuan Huyen on March 17 had a working session with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the implementation of the department’s tasks in 2020.

According to reports presented at the meeting, in the first quarter of 2020, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism continues with communication work to serve the implementation of political, economic and cultural tasks. The department has advised the provincial People’s Committee for the successful organization of activities in the framework of the peach blossom festival 2020 and other activities to celebrate the Lunar New Year festival.

The department timely issued documents to announce the cancellation of festivals and cultural and sports activities which gathered large numbers of people due to the COVID -19 outbreak, and operate educational campaigns to raise public awareness of the dangers of COVID-19, effectively contributing to the fight against to the disease in the locality.
Regarding three projects invested by the department which started in December 2020, about 60 percent of construction work has been completed, with the quality and schedule ensured.

Speaking at the working session, Vice Chairman Huyen acknowledged the efforts made by the department, and asked it to focus on implementing the nine main tasks approved by the provincial People’s Committee.

The department was told to observe democratic regulations, improve administrative discipline, and enhance the quality of recommendations to the provincial People’s Committee in building of documents, programmes and plans.

It was also asked to pay attention to developing sport and physical training movements among the masses, building a strategy for elite sport development, preserving cultural heritages and relic sites, and designing plans for tourism development after the disease is controlled.

Huyen said the department needs to enhance intersectoral coordination and internal unity, streamline administrative apparatus, promote autonomy for public units and call for social investment in potential tourism sites.
