The leader of the Provincial People’s Committee worked with BayWa r.e Wind Projects Viet Nam Co., Ltd

– People’s Committee chaired the meeting with BayWa r.e Wind Projects Vietnam Co., Ltd. on the policy of organizing community sponsorship activities and some issues related to the survey and proposal for the additional wind power planning in Lang Son province.

Following the direction of the provincial leaders, from July 2020, Department of Industry and Trade has presided over and coordinated with relevant agencies and the People’s Committees of Chi Lang, Cao Loc, Loc Binh, Van Quan Districts to guide BayWa r.e Wind Projects Vietnam Co., Ltd to prepare the dossier for the additional wind power planning; on November 11, 2020, Department of Industry and Trade issued Document No.1414/SCT-QLNL asking for comments on the document of the research and survey report, supplementing for three wind power projects in Chi Lang, Loc Binh, Cao Loc and Van Quan districts.

The overview of the meeting

Accordingly, three wind power projects are proposed by BayWa r.e Wind Projects Vietnam Co., Ltd to supplement the planning with the total capacity of 240 MW, the expected total investment of 8,013.7 billion VND.

In which, Cao Loc Wind Power Plant Project (Cong Son, Gia Cat, Hai Yen communes, Cao Loc district and Mau Son commune, Loc Binh district) has a capacity of 55 MW with 11 turbines; Van Quan Wind Power Plant Project (Tan Thanh, Xuan Long communes, Cao Loc district and Trang Cac, Tan Doan communes, Van Quan district with a capacity of 30 MW with six turbines; Loc Binh Wind Power Plant Project (Huu Kien commune, Chi Lang district and Huu Lan, Xuan Duong communes, Loc Binh district) has the capacity of 155MW with 31 turbines. According the plan, three projects will be completed in 2024.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Brian Barry, Director of BayWa r.e Wind Projects Vietnam Co., Ltd said that through information from Ministry of Industry and Trade and actual surveys in some areas in Lang Son province, the company realized the great potential for the wind power development in the province.

At this meeting, the company asked for the policy of Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee on the projects’ impact assessment on localities so that the company will complete related reports and project evaluation documents to submit to Ministry of Industry and Trade and Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee for appraisal.

Regarding community sponsorship activities, at the meeting, the company representative said that during the project implementation, initially, the company will sponsor education activities in some schools in particularly disadvantaged communes.

Speaking at the meeting, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee affirmed that the province’s policy is to focus on promoting industrial development. Through research, the province knows that BayWa r.e Wind Projects Vietnam Co., Ltd is a company developed on the high technology platform of the Federal Republic of Germany, especially the technology of wind power development. Therefore, the province welcomes the company to survey and implement project investment in the locality.

The leader of the Provincial People’s Committee directed relevant departments, agencies and district authorities to continue supporting the company to carry out the next survey steps. The province commits to accompany the company throughout the implementation of project steps.
