Continue to propagate and raise public awareness about the Global Geopark

That is the direction of Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for the building of a Global Geopark in Lang Son Province at the preliminary meeting of the first 6 months of the year and the direction and tasks of the last 6 months of 2022 of the Steering Committee.

According to the report of the Steering Committee, in the first 6 months of the year, the Steering Committee issued a plan to implement construction and development activities of Lang Son Geopark in 2022, assign specific tasks to members, relevant departments; promoting the successful implementation of 12 tasks mentioned in the Project on establishment, construction and development of Lang Son Geopark in the 2021-2025 period, in which the propaganda, dissemination, education and raising awareness about potentials, strengths, heritage values, sustainable development in Lang Son Geopark area. At the same time, the committee coordinate to organize online working sessions with domestic and international partners, introduce and promote cooperation in construction and development of Lang Son Geopark; conduct field surveys and exploit some relevant information to complete the dossier to submit to UNESCO for recognition of the Global Geopark; participate in activities of the global network of Geoparks UNESCO, the Asia-Pacific region, the Vietnam Global Geoparks Network.

At the meeting, after the leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and related units presented the draft report on the operation of the Steering Committee and introduced the logo, website, video clips and trailers promoting Lang Son Geopark, demo for the Lang Son Geopark Information Center; the delegates spoke and discussed focusing on a number of contents such as analyzing and selecting logo options; supplement, replacing some content, images, sounds of trailers and video clips promoting Lang Son Geopark…

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee acknowledged the efforts of the members of the Steering Committee, at the same time, he suggested that relevant units focus on promoting propaganda so that the community is aware of the benefits of the Global Geopark; speed up the implementation of tasks under the project on establishment, construction and development of Lang Son Geopark in the period of 2021-2025, operational regulations and plans on the implementation of construction and development of Lang Son Geopark in 2022; the members of the Steering Committee need to coordinate more closely, perform well the assigned tasks; accelerate the implementation of the criteria of the Global Geopark; urgently complete the logo, website and update information and database of Lang Son Geopark.

In the program, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Education and Training signed a cooperation program to propagate and educate about Geoparks in schools for the period 2022-2025. The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People’s Committees of districts in the Lang Son Geopark area signed a program to coordinate in implementing propaganda and education activities about the Geopark in the 2022-2025 period.
