Festival of performing traditional costumes and singing folk songs of ethnic minorities in Lang Son province

On the afternoon of November 2, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held the opening ceremony of the Festival of performing traditional costumes and singing folk songs of Vietnam’s ethnic minorities in Lang Son province in 2022.

Attending the opening of the Festival were Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Member of Standing Committee of Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee; leaders of departments, sectors, People’s Committees of districts and city and nearly 300 amateur artists and actors from 11 districts and city.

With more than 84% of the population being ethnic minorities, Lang Son is a land rich in unique traditional cultural identities of ethnic groups with traditional costumes and folk songs of the Tay ethnic groups such as Nung, Kinh, Hoa, Dao, San Chay, Mong.

In order to preserve and promote the cultural identity, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a Festival to perform traditional costumes and sing folk songs of Vietnamese ethnic minorities in Lang Son province in 2022. This is a useful playground, an opportunity to exchange and learn from the performance experience of amateur artists and actors in the districts and city. Thereby raising the awareness for the people of all classes about the conservation and promotion of the unique traditional cultural values of the province, and at the same time honoring the cultural values, the beauty of the traditional costumes, the folk songs of the ethnic groups.

Participating in the contest, the teams went through 2 parts: performing traditional national costumes and singing folk songs. The festival takes place in 1.5 days (from the afternoon of November 2 to the end of November 3). The closing program, awarding of the festival and the performance of special performances will take place at 8 pm on November 3 at the Exhibition Center of Lang Son province.
