The Ministry of Information and Communications announces the tasks in 2023 and receives the First-class Labor Medal

On the morning of December 18, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) held a conference to review the work in 2022, announce the tasks in 2023 and receive the First-class Labor Medal.

The conference was held online connecting to 63 provinces. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Chairman of the National Digital Transformation Committee attended and directed the conference.

Attending the conference in Lang Son province was Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee.

According to the report at the conference, in 2022, the information and communication sector have made great efforts and achieved many important results. The national digital transformation developed by the information and communication sector is increasingly popular across the country.

In 2022, the revenue of the information and communication sector is estimated at 3,893,595 billion VND, up 12.7% compared to 2021 and 1.5 times higher than the country’s forecast of GDP growth in 2022. The contribution to the state budget is estimated at 98,982.30 billion VND, up 24.7% compared to 2021. The total number of employees of the sector in 2022 is over 1.5 million, up 5% compared to 2021. Labor productivity of the sector (calculated by revenue) is estimated at about 648 million VND, the productivity growth rate is 6.7% compared to 2021…

At the conference, the MIC identified 2023 as “Vietnam Digital Data Year”. In particular, the key task in 2023 would be to assess the quality of public and non-public postal services; to strengthen inspection, supervision of the compliance with regulations on competition, to strictly handle violations of postal rates; to build Postal Data Portal; to effectively implement the plan to support agricultural production households on e-commerce platforms, to promote the development of the agricultural and rural digital economy; to complete the research report on the development of the revised Postal Law; to organize the Vietnam Postal Cooperation and Development Forum 2023.

At the conference, representatives of some ministries, sectors and localities presented and discussed a number of contents related to the information and communication sector such as improving the quality of Party newspapers; experience in building a digital citizenship platform; experience in implementing online public services…

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised the efforts of the information and communication sector in 2022 and suggested that the Ministry of Information and Communications should promote the achievements and well perform the tasks set out in 2023. During the implementation, attention should be paid to perfecting institution to ensure the practical suitability of communication, digital transformation and digital technology; completing the coverage of telecommunications and electricity to all remote, border, and island areas; building the national database; strengthening the construction of synchronous and modern digital infrastructure; promoting the digital economy, increasing the proportion of people using online public services, and promoting e-commerce.

At the conference, the Prime Minister awarded the First-class Labor Medal of the State President to the Ministry of Information and Communications. Also within the conference, two units received certificates of merit from the Ministry of Information and Communications for their outstanding achievements in production and business activities in the international market.

In the province, in 2022, the information and communication sector has completed 18/30 key tasks of 2025 on digital transformation according to Resolution No. 49-NQ/TU dated September 28, 2021 of the Standing Committee of Provincial Party Committee on digital transformation of Lang Son province to 2025, with orientation to 2030. At the same time, according to the announcement on August 8, 2022 by the Ministry of Information and Communications, the province ranks 5th out of 63 provinces and cities on the Digital Transformation Index (DTI) in 2021 and top 10 leading provinces and cities nationwide in digital transformation.
