Opening Dong Dang Festival and receiving the Certificate of recognition of Thuy Mon Dinh as a National historic relic

On the morning of January 31 (ie, the 10th of the first lunar month), Cao Loc District People’s Committee held the opening ceremony of Dong Dang Festival and received the Certificate of recognition of Thuy Mon Dinh as a National historic relic.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Member of Standing Committee of Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee; representatives of departments, boards, sectors, mass organizations and armed forces of the province; leaders of People’s Committees of districts and Lang Son city and a large number of people and tourists.

Thuy Mon Dinh is a meaningful historical relic, reflecting the will to firmly protect the sovereignty of the country of General Nguyen Dinh Loc while he managed the border area of the country. With great historical significance written on the stele, Thuy Mon Dinh Stele House was recognized as a provincial relic by the Provincial People’s Committee according to Decision No. 41/2002/QD-UB dated October 2, 2002.

By 2015, Thuy Mon Dinh stele located in the relic was recognized by the Prime Minister as a national treasure. On June 29, 2021, the historical site of Thuy Mon Dinh was recognized as a national relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. It has a particularly important value not only for Lang Son province but also for the country, which is a great proud cultural heritage of Lang Son and the nation.

Within the ceremony,  authorized by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee handed the Certificate of recognition of Thuy Mon Dinh as a National historic relic to the Party, Government and People of Cao Loc district.

Afterwards, Dong Dang festival was opened. This is a festival imbued with Vietnamese folk culture and beliefs, which is the worship of Mother Goddesses. After the opening of the festival, many traditional cultural activities took place such as lion dance, ethnic martial arts, stick pushing, tug of war, bag jumping… and traditional culinary activities with typical specialties of Xu Lang including roasted pig, roasted duck, khau nhuc (fried then steamed pork belly)…

This year, because the festival took place in beautiful weather, it has attracted many locals and tourists from all over the world to visit.
