On the afternoon of September 23, in Bac Son district, the Management Board of Lang Son Geopark coordinated with the Geopark Development Team (under Bac Son District People’s Committee) to organize a contest to learn about geological heritage, geopark, Bac Son Uprising Day. Participating in the contest were 300 contestants who were students from all grades of Bac Son District Boarding Ethnic Middle and High School.

The contestants participated in 3 parts including ringing the golden bell, eloquence in English, folk games. In the part of ringing the golden bell, by answering 30 questions, contestants demonstrated their understanding of outstanding geological, geomorphological, cultural and historical values, especially the Bac Son Uprising, biodiversity, natural landscapes and tourist attractions in the Lang Son Geopark. In the English rhetoric performance, the contestants presented about a geological heritage or a historical site in Bac Son district. In addition, the participants can also play a number of games such as playing drums blindfolded, skipping rope, racing boat on land, kicking shuttlecock, playing football. At the end of the contest, the organizing committee awarded 7 first prizes, 7 second prizes, 7 third prizes, and 2 fourth prizes to excellent contestants.

The contest was organized to improve the effectiveness of propaganda and education about traditional culture and history of Lang Son province and geological heritage and Lang Son Geopark in youth union organizations and schools. It creates opportunities for youth union members and students to demonstrate their understanding and passion for learning about the values, of culture, history, heritage, indigenous knowledge and local landscapes. This is also one of the practical activities to celebrate the 83rd anniversary of the Bac Son Uprising (September 27, 1940 – September 27, 2023).
