Film week celebrates 75th founding anniversary of Vietnam’s People Army

(LSO) – The Film Distribution & Screening Centre of Lang Son province on December 21 launched a film week in celebration of the 47th anniversary of the Hanoi-Dien Bien Phu in the air victory (December 1972-2019), the 75th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944-2019), and the 30th All People’s Defence Festival (December 22, 1989-2019).

Attending the opening ceremony were representatives from departments and sectors in the province as well as officers and soldiers from the provincial Military High Command, students and people across the locality.

The film screening was officially started on December 12 and lasts until December 25 at the Dong Kinh cinema and mobile screening locations in 10 districts.

Films screened during the week include popular features and documentaries such as Hanoi 12 Days and Nights; Borders; and Unpeaceful Forest.

This year’s event also featured digital movie programmes to serve people in mountainous and remote areas with the theme “Maintaining security, national defence, and social order and safety.”

The documentary film “The Elder of the Army”, which tells about the great contributions of late General Vo Nguyen Giap to the establishment and development of Vietnam’s People Army, was selected to be screened at the opening ceremony.

The film week contributed to reviewing the nation’s glorious history and promoting thet nation’s patriotism and strong will in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. It also helped raise national pride from all strata of society, especially young generations.
