Third Lang Son peach blossom festival opens

(LSO) – The People’s Committee of Lang Son held an opening ceremony on January 19 (the 25th of the 12th lunar month) for the province’s third peach blossom festival 2020 to celebrate the Spring of the Year of the Rat. The festival has the theme “Lang Son peach blossom – Convergence of quintessence, pervasive spring colour.”
The ceremony was attended by Tran Sy Thanh, member of the Party Central Committee, deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission, Chairman of the Council of Members of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas group, and head of provincial delegation of National Assembly deputies, along with delegates from ministries, sectors and central agencies.

The Lang Son authorities were represented by Hoang Van Nghiem, Standing Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council; Pham Ngoc Thuong, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; along with members of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board, officials of the provincial People’s Council, People’s Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front chapter, departments, mass organisations and localities.
In his opening remarks, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Duong Xuan Huyen stressed that Lang Son has regularly organized the peach blossom festival just before the annual Lunar New Year Festival with the aim of honouring the local cultural characteristics and promoting the value of the local peach blossoms. The event also contributes to promoting the province’s tourism and building the image of Lang Son as a green tourism destination, with peach blossoms as its symbol.

The third Lang Son peach blossom festival lasts from January 19 through February 1 (or the 25th of the last month of the Year of the Pig to the 8th of the first month of the Year of the Rat) at Chi Lang Park, Hung Vuong street, Lang Son city and surrounding areas. It is linked with tourism destinations in Quang Lac commune, and the first-ever contest of peach blossom gardens in Lang Son.

At the opening ceremony, the organizing committee presented 16 prizes to contestants in the contest of peach blossom gardens, with the first prize going to the garden of Tan Thanh pagoda.
