Lang Son discusses designating hotels as quarantine facilities

(LSO) – The Lang Son provincial People’s Committee held a meeting on June 10 to look into the possibility of setting up concentrated quarantine facilities at hotels with expenses voluntarily covered by quarantined people.

The meeting was chaired by Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Duong Xuan Huyen.

Through a survey and voluntary registration of local hotels, the province has selected Muong Thanh and Trade Union hotels in Lang Son city with a total of 169 rooms, as designated quarantine facilities for foreign experts, skilled workers and investors entering Vietnam via the Huu Nghi International Border Gate in Cao Loc district.

The meeting discussed the screening and medical examination process for these foreigners at the designated hotels; the transportation and transfer of these people among units; service rates at the hotels; interpretation services for units performing duties at the quarantine facilities; making backup plans and how to ensure order and security at these places.

Vice Chairman of the Lang Son People’s Committee Duong Xuan Huyen speaks at the meeting.

Speaking at the event, Huyen spoke highly of the local units for actively developing plans for establishing quarantine facilities at hotels for foreign experts wishing to enter Vietnam.

However, he voiced concerns over the slow progress of the work.

He asked the units to effectively raise public awareness of these matters to avoid unneccesary fear among local residents.

He also requested the hotels to be transparent about building quarantine service rates while foreign experts, skilled workers and investors must be provided with knowledge about Vietnam’s measures and regulations against the COVID-19.

The detailed plans about setting up quarantine facilities at hotels must be promptly prepared and submitted to the provincial People’s Committee./.
