Progress of construction of school toilets, contract signing with teachers reviewed

(LSO) – The People’s Committee of Lang Son province held a meeting on September 4 to evaluate the efficiency of a project to construct, upgrade and repair toilets at kindergartens and schools in higher levels in 2019, as well as review contracts with teachers and education staff in the 2019-2020 period.

Duong Xuan Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Committee, chaired the meeting.

Realising the project, the province aims to build 195 new toilets, while upgrading and repairing 107 others at a total cost of over 17.3 billion VND (743,900 USD).

However, so far, only 67 percent of the construction work and86 percent of the upgrading and repairing activities have been finished.

In the 2019-2020 academic year, local education and training facilities needs 1,241 teachers and staff. Their requests for personnel are being considered by the provincial Department of Home Affairs, the Department of Education and Training as well as districts and localities before a proposal on recruitment is submitted to the provincial authorities plan.

At the meeting, participants clarified difficulties and obstacles in the work, while giving solutions to the problems, especially in satisfying the demand for teachers and education staff as the new academic year is starting.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Duong Xuan Huyen asked relevant departments, sectors and the People’s Committees of districts to focus on directing contractors to speed up the progress, while strengthening supervision and inspection to ensure the quality of the works. He urged the localities to complete the tasks before October 31 this year.

Regarding the launch of the construction of 13 kindergartens, the Department of Education and Training should coordinate with six targeted districts to take advantage of favourable weather conditions to speed up the work, striving to complete the construction as scheduled, he asked.

Over the signing of contracts with teachers and education staff, Huyen agreed with the Department of Home Affair’s idea to continue the work with additional teachers and staff to meet the demand of education and training facilities.

He assigned the department to review regulations and guide districts to sign the contracts and designing suitable policies for labourers to keep them working in local education facilities./.
