Ensuring security and safety in cashless payment activities

Recently, the banking industry in the province has actively deployed online payment applications and many incentives to encourage customers to use cashless payments. Along with that, the banking system has actively implemented many solutions to ensure security and safety in operations.

At Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, Lang Son Branch (Agribank Lang Son), in recent years, the branch has continuously innovated and improved the quality of operations, especially in the field of digital transformation. Up to now, the branch has 12,858 customers registered to use E-Mobile Banking service, the whole province currently has 140 POS machines, the number of card transactions via POS from the beginning of 2022 to now reaches 63,175 million VND; The number of cards issued from the beginning of 2022 to now is 18,225 cards.

Ms. Hoang Thi Anh, Deputy Director of the branch said: To ensure security and safety in cashless payments, when customers make transactions via the application on the phone, they need to authenticate through 3 levels of passwords;  At the ATM card withdrawal gate, there is an anti-copying device for card data; ATMs are equipped with surveillance cameras and anti-theft alarm systems. In addition, the unit diversified cashless payment products and services, aiming to ensure the highest safety for customers when transacting.

Similarly, Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam, Lang Son branch (BIDV Lang Son), In the past time, many solutions have been implemented to ensure safety in cashless payments. Mr. Hoang Van Huy, Deputy Director of the branch said: The branch has gradually improved service quality, diversified forms of payment, optimized utilities on digital banking channels; regularly communicate BIDV’s digital banking products to customers, encourage customers to use, and limit cash payments. At the same time, the bank guide customers to use digital banking products, warn about possible fraudulent tricks for customers to know and avoid.

According to statistics of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) province branch, the province currently has 16 commercial banks. In particular, banks promote the development of cashless payment, bringing many conveniences to customers. In addition to the benefits brought, the banking system has implemented many solutions to ensure security and safety in operations.

Accordingly, credit institutions have actively developed a variety of convenient and suitable new payment products and services based on the application of modern technology, ensuring safety, security and convenience for users; promote the implementation of payment applications, products and services on mobile devices, such as: payment via QR code, card information encryption, contactless payment, e-wallet. Banks continue to develop bank card services, converting bank cards from magnetic cards to chip cards; develop and increase utility functions on devices accepting card payments, ensuring safety in card payments…

Up to now, banks have issued 567,185 ATM cards. There are 92 ATMs in the whole province, mainly in Lang Son city. The number of payment transactions via ATM from the beginning of 2022 to now is more than 1.4 billion transactions. The province currently has 433 POS machines with the total sales of POS card payments of commercial banks accumulated from the beginning of 2022 to now is 161.2 billion VND.

I myself am using the E-Mobile Banking application of Agribank Lang Son to pay when shopping, pay electricity and water bills… very convenient. In addition, when I go to the market, I can scan the QR code to be able to pay without taking much time. When transacting, the system requires confirmation and the OTP code to ensure safety, so I have not had any unsafe problems when using the payment service.

According to the information of the provincial State Bank, to ensure security and safety in cashless payment activities, The provincial State Bank has directed banks to strictly abide by regulatory documents, promptly inform and direct when there are documents from the police on the situation of criminal activities through banks; closely coordinate with the police when requested to provide information when necessary. As a result, in the province recently, there have been no incidents of security and safety in cashless payment.
