A leaders of the Provincial People’s Committee worked with the delegation of the Secretary to the President of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance

On the morning of October 27, 2022, Mrs. Doan Thu Ha, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the People’s Committee of Lang Son province received and chaired a meeting with the delegation of Secretary to the President of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance led by Mr. Nikai Nobuyasu, Secretary of the President of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance, Head of the Office of Member of the House of Representatives Nikai Toshihiro.

Speaking at the meeting, the Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee briefly introduced about the geographical position, potentials, strengths and socio-economic development of Lang Son province.

Lang Son province is considered an important gateway connecting Vietnam and ASEAN with China. With the border gate economic zone, Lang Son province has many potentials and advantages to develop border economy, logistics, high value-added services, and also is the connector of import and export of Vietnam, as well as of Southeast Asian countries with the Chinese market in the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area. In addition, Lang Son province is potentials for agricultural and forestry development. Over the years, the province has focused on building and developing a number of areas for growing raw materials such as pine, star anise and some local specialty fruits.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nikai Nobuyasu, Head of the delegation highly appreciated the socio-economic development result of Lang Son province, especially the development of border gate economy as well as the investment in building infrastructure and developing agricultural and forestry production.

Discussing some contents during this business trip to Lang Son province, Mr. Nikai Nobuyasu stated: “Over the years, Vietnam and Japan have cooperated in many fields, in which effective cooperation has been carried out in processing agricultural products, fresh fruits. In particular, through the exchange between the leader of Lang Son province and the Deputy Governor of Wakayama province, Japan within the working program of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the delegation of Wakayama province on October 5, 2022, under the authorization of the Deputy Governor of Wakayama Province, the delegation of the Secretary to the President of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance organized a business trip to Lang Son province to connect and promote cooperation between Wakayama province and Lang Son province. Additionally, with the potentials and advantages of Lang Son, Vietnam and Wakayama, Japan, the delegation would study and survey aiming to cooperation in fruit and agricultural product processing in Lang Son province such as star anise, tobacco, tea, etc. for export. Besides, in the long term, cooperation in assembly, logistics, logistics complex … in Lang Son will be implemented.

2023 is the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Japan, therefore, at the meeting, the Secretary to the President of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance wished to organize a delegation with many related businesses and units to visit and work in Lang Son province in January 2023 for cooperation in a number of fields mentioned at this working session. At the same time, he also expected to establish a friendly exchange relationship between Lang Son province, Vietnam and Wakayama province, Japan.

At the meeting, the Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee affirmed that Lang Son always welcomed Japanese localities and businesses to visit, research, cooperate and invest in Lang Son province. At the same time, she hoped that the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam and the Japan International Cooperation Agency in Vietnam would continue to support Lang Son province to promote cooperation with Japanese localities, organizations and businesses.
