Trade Union Tet Market – A warm solidarity

From December 30, 2022 to January 1, 2023, “The 2023 Trade Union Tet Market” attracted thousands of union members and employees. With careful preparation, the program was successful, leaving many deep impressions, contributing to taking care of the lives of employees in difficult circumstances, so that no one is left behind when the New Year comes.

Union members and employees bought essential goods at the booths

It is known that Lang Son is one of 22 provinces and cities in the country to organize the “Trade Union Tet Market” program in 2023, coordinated by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. The program attracted 33 booths of 20 businesses participating in selling at preferential prices (from 10% to 30% off on a product). Businesses have sold and provided hundreds of types of quality products, goods and services with the main items being products to serve the shopping needs of employees during the Lunar New Year such as: confectionery, food, textiles, paper, soap, detergent, alcohol, beverage…

1000 Union members and employees got free health check-ups at the booths

Among the stalls, there are “zero cost” stalls, “free health check-up and cancer screening booths”. According to information from the provincial Labor Confederation, during the 3 days of the fair, these booths attracted more than 4,000 union members and employees. Mr. Lang Van Dinh, Director of Ngoc Lan International General Clinic (Lang Son City) said: Realizing the practical significance of the program, we registered with the Provincial Labor Confederation to receive 3 booths to arrange machinery and equipment to organize free health checks and cancer screenings for union members and employees. At the same time, 30 staff members, nurses and doctors were on duty at the booth during the fair. With free services (including: general internal examination, blood test to screen for liver and digestive system cancer, drug distribution), in 3 days, our booth attracted nearly 250 employees, with total value of more than 200 million VND.

Within the framework of the program “The 2023 Trade Union Tet Market” in Lang Son province, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor gave 8,000 vouchers to 2,000 employees (each person received 4 vouchers, totaling 300 thousand VND). Gave 200 vouchers for free, 281 gifts for employees in difficult circumstances due to the impact of natural disasters, pandemics, occupational accidents, and fatal diseases (500,000 VND each).

Mrs. Doan Thi Thu Nhinh, Trade Union of Loc Yen Kindergarten School (Cao Loc District) is one of the disadvantaged union members who received gifts at the “Trade Union Tet Market”. Mrs. Nhinh shared: Practical gifts from trade unions help my family worry less about shopping when the Lunar New Year is near. Life is still difficult, so it’s been a long time since I’ve had a health check. Coming to the fair, I was given a free health check and cancer screening, I felt very happy and reassured. The program is really meaningful to workers and hard workers like us.

Along with shopping, special cultural and artistic activities at the Trade Union Tet Market have created a joyful atmosphere, a cultural space imbued with national identity, serving the needs of entertainment and sightseeing for union members and employees. Mr. Ha Ngoc Minh, Director of the Provincial Arts and Culture Center said: Participating in the program, we had carefully prepared, selected actors and special performances to create more highlights for the program with content praising the love of the motherland, landscapes and Lang Son people, the atmosphere of welcoming spring and happy new year, in which traditional and modern elements are interwoven. The performances gathered nearly 100 professional actors, the masses from clubs in the province, with the repertoire: singing, dancing; sli singing, glide singing, lion cat dance, folk dance, dance…

According to information from the provincial Labor Confederation, after 3 days of organizing, “The 2023 Trade Union Tet Market” has attracted more than 10,000 turns of employees to visit, shop, and get health checks.

In order to have the success of the program, the Organizing Committee has carefully prepared, actively cooperated with agencies and units. Mr. Ly Duc Thanh, Chairman of the Provincial Labor Confederation, Head of the Organizing Committee of the program “The 2023 Trade Union Tet Market” said: Implementing the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Lang Son Provincial Party Committee, right from the beginning of December 2022, the provincial Labor Confederation has coordinated with the Department of Industry and Trade to issue a plan to organize the program “The 2023 Trade Union Tet Market”;  sent a dispatch with the plan to invite the People’s Committees of districts and city to mobilize businesses in the area, business units, and partners with the provincial Labor Confederation to participate in promoting, introducing products and selling goods and services at “The 2023 Trade Union Tet Market “. In order for the program to be successful, towards the goal of “Every worker has Tet”, the Provincial Labor Confederation has coordinated with relevant agencies and units to carefully prepare the conditions for organizing the fair, with many items, necessities for Tet holiday for union members and employees. At the same time, the Confederation directed trade unions at all levels to propagate the purpose, meaning and content of the fair, and mobilized employees to visit and purchase goods. As noted by the reporter, the elements of security and order, traffic safety, fire prevention and fighting and food safety and hygiene in the program area are guaranteed, creating a joyful atmosphere for employees to shop with peace of mind, have access to quality goods, preferential prices, and fully celebrate Tet.

Thus, although it is the first year of its organization, “The 2023 Trade Union Tet Market” has really become a prominent activity, a special highlight, demonstrating the cooperation and sharing of trade unions, Party committees and authorities at all levels with the same interest in participating in Tet care activities for union members and employees, associated with activities to welcome trade union congresses at all levels. Thereby the activity affirmed the role of trade union in taking care of life, encouraged employees to make efforts to overcome difficulties, improve productivity, product quality, work efficiency for the sustainable development of the agencies, units and businesses.
