Leaders of the Provincial People’s Committee received the delegation of the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand and the Embassy of Thailand in Vietnam

On the afternoon of April 24, Mrs. Doan Thu Ha, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee received and worked with the delegation of the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand and the Embassy of Thailand in Vietnam led by Mr. Keerati Rushchano, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand to discuss about creating favorable conditions for transporting fresh fruits from Thailand to China through Vietnam’s border gate. Also attending the meeeting were representatives of the Thailand Embassy in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Mrs. Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee gave an overview of the province’s socio-economic situation.

Accordingly, in the past years, import and export activities of goods through border gates in Lang Son province have increasingly developed, with many forms. In which, transit is mainly done through Huu Nghi International Border Gate and partly through Dong Dang International Railway Station Border Gate.

From 2021 to now, the import and export activities of goods through the province have suffered many impacts due to the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic and the management of medical quarantine from China. However, with the timely solutions of the Provincial People’s Committee, the customs clearance of import and export goods at border gates in the province is still basically maintained.

In the first quarter of 2023, the total import and export turnover of goods through the province reached about 9,032 billion USD. In which, export turnover of agricultural products of Thailand origin accounted for about 66.6 million USD (export turnover through Huu Nghi International Border Gate reached 66.2 million USD, through the Dong Dang International Railway Station Border Gate reached 0.4 million USD)…

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Keerati Rushchano, head of the delegation of the Thailand Ministry of Commerce , highly appreciated the support and facilitation of Lang Son province for the transportation of fresh Thai fruits through border gates in the area in recent times. At the same time, he hoped that Lang Son province will continue to pay attention to and create favorable conditions for import and export clearance, especially for Thailand agricultural products. At the same time, he proposed to establish a joint working group between the two sides to promptly solve arising problems…

With the proposals of the Thailand delegation, Mrs. Doan Thu Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee affirmed: In the coming time, Lang Son province will continue to increase the mobilization of resources for investment in developing border gate infrastructure, traffic and technical infrastructure to improve circulation capacity; expanding specialized freight routes, put into operation a large-scale cargo transshipment area with full functions.

Along with that, the province will continue to build a smart digital border gate platform to comprehensively and comprehensively manage import and export activities at border gates in the province, promote administrative reform, automating the process, reducing the time for businesses to participate in import and export, as well as exporting Thai’s fruits to China through the border gate in Lang Son province.

At the same time, the Provincial People’s Committee directed relevant departments and sectors to actively plan and organize the establishment of a working group between the two sides, ensure the maintenance of an effective and long-term working group.

Mrs. Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee wished that in the coming time, the province will continue to receive the attention and support from the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand and the Embassy of Thailand in Vietnam; she hoped that Mr. Keerati Rushchano will be a bridge to strengthen cooperation relations between Lang Son province and localities and units of Thailand, contribute to opening up many opportunities for the two sides to strengthen the establishment of cooperative relations in various fields; introduce and connect Thai businesses and investors to Lang Son to explore cooperation and investment opportunities.

Previously, the delegation visited import-export activities at Huu Nghi International Border Gate and Dong Dang International Railway Station Border Gate.
