Customs – business dialogue: Removing barriers and difficulties for businesses

On the morning of May 23, the Customs Department of Lang Son province held a customs-business dialogue in 2023 in order to remove barriers and difficulties for businesses in import and export activities.

Overview of the dialogue

Attending the dialogue were representatives of nearly 100 businesses that regularly import and export goods through the province.

At the dialogue, a leader of the Provincial Customs Department briefed on import and export activities in the first 5 months of 2023. Accordingly, in the first 5 months of the year, import and export activities, although mainly taking place at the Huu Nghi International Border Gate, Tan Thanh Border Gate, Dong Dang International Railway Station Border Gate, Chi Ma and Coc Nam Border Gate (other border gates do not witness any import-export activities), there have been more import-export activities than the same period in 2022. Thereby, the turnover of import and export goods declared at the Customs Department of Lang Son province reached $1,370 million, up 102% compared to the same period in 2022.

Representatives of businesses engaged in import-export activities raise some ideas at the dialogue

At the dialogue, representatives of import-export businesses complained about problems arising in the process of declaring import-export goods on the digital border gate platform through Huu Nghi International Border Gate; some problems related to the field of parking and storage, supervision activities, time for customs procedures…

At the same time, representatives of businesses proposed to the customs agencies a number of solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles in the process of participating in import-export activities of businesses.

The leader of the Provincial Customs Department answered questions of the business community in import-export activities

In the dialogue, the leader of the Provincial Customs Department, representatives of customs sub-departments at the border gates answered question raised by businesses.

In addition, the representative of the customs agencies also pointed out the shortcomings in the process of carrying out customs procedures of businesses, thereby helping businesses understand and avoid making mistakes when carrying out customs procedures.

Speaking at the dialogue, the leader of the Customs Department of Lang Son province affirmed: “As soon as the dialogue finishes, the customs agencies will analyze the businesses’ problems, thereby develop solutions to solve the them, contributing to creating maximum favorable conditions for businesses to import and export goods through the border gates of the province. Not only through the dialogue, businesses can tell about the difficulties and problems through the hotline number of the customs sub-department at the border gates, or zalo, email …, the customs agencies will receive and solve them. Lang Son Customs will always accompany and share with import-export businesses to overcome difficulties and challenges.”

The customs-business dialogue is an annual activity organized by the Customs Department in order to consolidate and improve the cooperation between the customs agencies and the business community. Within the framework of the dialogue, Lang Son Customs also informed a number of new documents and regulations related to the customs field to the business community operating in the field of import and export of goods.
