Reviewing the draft statement of the Provincial People’s Committee and the draft resolution of the Provincial People’s Council on naming streets in Cao Loc district and Lang Son city

On the afternoon of June 1, the Provincial People’s Committee held a meeting to consider the draft statement of the Provincial People’s Committee and the draft Resolution of the Provincial People’s Council on naming streets in Cao Loc township, Cao Loc district and Lang Son city. Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee chaired the meeting.

Over the years, the Provincial People’s Committee has directed the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with the People’s Committees of districts and the city to summarize the scheme, develop a draft statement and resolution on naming and renaming streets and public works in the whole province. From 2007 to 2020, the Provincial People’s Council issued six resolutions on naming and renaming 196 streets and ten public works in Lang Son city and ten districts.

Currently, in the area of ​​Lang Son city and Cao Loc district, a number of streets have been widened and extended. The People’s Committees of Lang Son City and Cao Loc district have submitted a proposal to the Provincial Advisory Council on naming and renaming streets and public works, requesting approval of the project on naming streets in the area.

On the basis of statements and opinions of relevant units and people in the area, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has completed the draft statement of the Provincial People’s Committee and the draft Resolution of the Provincial People’s Council on naming streets in the district. Cao Loc and Lang Son city.

Accordingly, the draft resolution consists of two articles with the content of naming 31 streets and extending one named route. Of which, 14 streets in Cao Loc district, 17 streets and one extended route have already been named in Lang Son city.

At the meeting, the delegates discussed and contributed ideas to amend the draft, which focused on a number of contents such as the name of the resolution, the statement; the specific name of each street, clarifying the historical, cultural and social meaning of the name, the suitability of the size of the streets and so on.

Concluding the meeting, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee proposed the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to absorb the opinions of departments, committees and agencies to edit and complete the draft; coordinate and review the starting and ending points of streets; adjust the name appropriately and worthy. At the same time, it is requested to speed up the construction of a name bank and regulations on naming and renaming streets and public works in the province.
