The 14th meeting of the Vietnam – China Bilateral Cooperation Committee: Continue to promote cooperation in various fields

On the morning of July 13, in Nanning city, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China held the 14th meeting of the Vietnam – China Bilateral Cooperation Committee.

Mr. Pham Binh Minh, Politburo member, Standing Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Steering Committee for bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and China and Mr. Wang Yi, State Councilor, Chairman of the China-Vietnam Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee co-chaired the meeting in Nanning city, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China.

The session was held online from Nanning city, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China to the online connection site of the northern border provinces (Lang Son, Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Dien Bien, Cao Bang,  Son La, Lai Chau) and at the Government Office (Vietnam).

Attending the meeting in Lang Son province were Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; representatives of a number of related departments, commissions, sectors,  and units.

Speaking at the meeting, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh and Mr. Wang Yi both affirmed that, with the joint efforts of both sides, the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and China over the past time continued to maintain stability and made many new developments. High-level exchanges and contacts are held regularly with flexible forms, making an important contribution to enhancing political trust between the two Parties and States.

In terms of economic cooperation, Vietnam and China continue to be major trading partners in ASEAN and Asia. In particular, in the past time, the two countries Vietnam – China have cooperated in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, thereby achieving many substantive results. Regarding the territorial and land border issues, the two countries continue to maintain peace and stability. At multilateral forums, Vietnam and China actively coordinate to promote peace, stability and cooperation in the region and the world.

At this meeting, the leaders of the two sides jointly assessed the overall cooperation activities in various fields of the two countries, especially re-evaluating the results achieved since the 13th meeting of Vietnam – China Bilateral Cooperation Committee from September 2021 to present.

At the same time, the two sides discussed major directions and specific measures to continue promoting bilateral cooperation in all fields in order to further develop the Vietnam-China relationship in the coming time.

Exchanging at the meeting, leaders of both sides said that, on the basis of advantages, potentials, needs and existing bilateral relationship foundation, in the coming time, the two countries will continue to closely coordinate, seriously and fully implement the common perception of the two countries’ senior leaders as well as bilateral agreements, including the results achieved at this meeting. Thereby the two sides continue to promote and improve the quality of cooperation in all fields.

Within the framework of the 14th meeting of the Vietnam – China Bilateral Cooperation Committee, leaders of the two sides agreed on a number of contents to be jointly implemented in the coming time. In which, the two sides agreed to continue applying effective measures to promote economic and trade cooperation; consider reopening some border gates; continue to promote cooperation in science and technology, environment, transportation, agriculture, health, culture, education, tourism and people-to-people exchanges;…

During the meeting, the two sides also signed three cooperation documents in a number of fields.
