National online conference to reiew 6 months of implementing the project on population data

On the morning of August 9, at the Government headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Chairman of the National Committee for Digital Transformation, chaired an online conference to review 6 months of implementing the Project “Developing the application for population data, electronic identification and authentication for national digital transformation in Vietnam in the period of 2022 – 2025, with a vision to 2030”.

The conference was jointly organized by the Ministry of Public Security and the Government Office online connecting to the People’s Committees of provinces and centrally run cities, People’s Committees of districts, towns, cities, communes and ward, towns across the country.

Attending the conference from Lang Son province were Mr. Ho Tien Thieu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of the Provincial Working Team for implementing the Project “Developing the application for population data, electronic identification and authentication for national digital transformation in Vietnam in the period of 2022 – 2025, with a vision to 2030” and the leaders of a number of departments and sectors of the province.

On January 6, 2022, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 06/QD-TTg approving the project “Developing the application for population data, electronic identification and authentication for national digital transformation in Vietnam in the period of 2022 – 2025, with a vision to 2030” (referred to as Project 06).

Project 06 identifies 5 major utility groups, including 13 groups of general tasks, 89 specific tasks of central ministries and sectors; 13 groups of general tasks and 8 specific tasks of localities. Up to now, central ministries and sectors have completed 21/89 tasks; localities have completed 4/13 general tasks and 1/8 specific tasks. The implementation of the project has contributed to changing the way of citizen management; overcoming the inconsistency and improving the quality and efficiency in citizen information management; saving time and effort; creating favorable conditions and an important foundation for operating online public services to serve people and businesses…

For Lang Son province, the Provincial People’s Committee has promptly followed the guiding documents of the Government and ministries and sectors on the implementation of the project’s tasks; focused on reviewing, upgrading and completing information technology infrastructure; promoting the implementation of 25 essential online public services related to the people under Project 06. To date, 1,396 online public services of level 3 and level 4 have been integrated on the public service portal and the province’s electronic “one-stop” information system…

At the conference, the delegates focused on discussing and evaluating the results in the implementation of the project; sharing good experiences of units and localities; clearly indicating the issue that was still behind schedule, the difficulties and obstacles and proposing key solutions in the coming time.

Concluding the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed: “Since Project 06 was approved, the Working Group of the Government, ministries, sectors and localities has drastically implemented the tasks assigned and has achieved initial positive results. All levels, sectors, business community and people are becoming more and more well aware of national digital transformation, including the implementation of Project 06,.

The obtained results show that the implementation of Project 06 is completely right, thereby promoting national digital transformation, digital governance, smart governance, contributing to rapid recovery, sustainable economic and social development.

The Prime Minister also pointed out the shortcomings and limitations in the process of implementing Project 06 in directing, operating, building institutions, operating online public services, information technology infrastructure, human resources and security and safety of information systems.

To overcome the shortcomings and limitations, the Prime Minister requested ministries, sectors and localities to continuously innovate, to have breakthrough thinking and strategic vision; promoting initiative and creativity; promoting decentralization, uphold the responsibility of the leaders.
