Consultation workshop on planning of Lang Son province in the period of 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050

On October 2, 2022, the Steering Committee on the planning of Lang Son province held a consultation workshop on the planning of Lang Son province in the period of 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Doan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Steering Committee on the planning of the province chaired the workshop.

Attending the workshop were Mr. Hoang Van Nghiem, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Delegation of the National Assembly; Mr. Ho Tien Thieu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mrs. Doan Thi Hau, Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Council; Members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; former leaders of the province; representatives of experts, scientists, representatives of ministries and central sectors.

The consultation workshop on the planning of Lang Son province in the period of 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050 is of great significance to help Lang Son province gain a lot of information about scientific arguments, opinions and practical advice from central and provincial leading managers, experts in order to complete the planning of the province to serve the socio-economic development strategy and plan to 2030 with a vision to 2050.

At the workshop, the representative of McKinsey&Company Vietnam Co., Ltd (consulting unit) presented the draft Report on the planning of Lang Son province in the period of 2021 – 2030, with a vision to 2050.

Accordingly, the draft provincial master plan stated the necessity and the planning period; analyzed development status; development status of industries and fields of Lang Son province in recent years; proposed the development direction of Lang Son province in the period of 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050… At the same time, it offered the group of solutions and resources for implementation of the plan.

At the workshop, the delegates contributed many ideas to the draft such as the necessity to clearly state the solutions to transform the disadvantages into advantages of Lang Son, to mobilize economic resources to serve development and growth goals; solutions to attract and improve the quality of human resources.

In addition, attraction of external forces, digital transformation, education and health were important topics that the delegates commented on. Regarding tourism development, the delegates said that it was necessary to have a more comprehensive and in-depth view, to not only depend on available natural advantages, but also pay attention to developing creative tourism economy, thereby creating tourism products of Lang Son with uniqueness and difference…

Regarding the implementation progress of the planning, representatives of central ministries and sectors suggested that the province fully supplement the bases and closely follow the direction and orientation of the Central level to complete the planning. For planning documents, the province was required to pay attention to the system of demonstrating databases, maps, charts and tables for the appraisal of the ministries and sectors.

Speaking at the conclusion of the workshop, the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee highly appreciated the consultations of the delegates at the workshop. They were valuable and highly scientific ideas for the province added to the planning. Thereby, it helped Lang Son soon complete the planning to ensure quality and schedule.

Regarding the tasks in the coming time, the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee suggested that the Provincial People’s Committee and specialized agencies continue to study and complete the report explaining the provincial planning. At the same time, they should absorb all the opinions and comments of the delegates and experts and make a report with specific explanation for each opinions contributed; continue to closely follow the progress of national, regional planning and specialized technical planning; regularly update and complete to ensure the right development orientation, especially the orientation of linking and developing the Northern midland and mountainous region by 2030, with a vision to 2045.

The Provincial People’s Committees and sectors should speed up the implementation and soon complete the provincial planning, then submit it to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee before sending it to the National Appraisal Council, with an effort to submit it to the Prime Minister for approval in the December of 2022.
