Lang Son reviews preparations for Hoang Van Thu’s 110th birthday celebrations

(LSO) – The Standing Board of the Lang Son provincial Party Committee held a meeting on October 2 to review preparations for the celebration of the 110th birth anniversary of revolutionary Hoang Van Thu (November 4, 1909 – 2019).

Lam Thi Phuong Thanh, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, chaired the meeting.

The event was also attended by permanent members of the provincial Party Committee, leaders of the provincial People’s Committee, along with representatives of relevant departments and sectors, Lang Son city and Van Lang district – the hometown of Hoang Van Thu.

Activities marking the anniversary will include a ceremony and a ministry-level symposium on him – an outstanding Party leader. They are scheduled for November 3 – 4.

So far, the activities have been prepared well. In particular, the restoration of relics and memorial sites linked with Hoang Van Thu in Lang Son city and Van Lang district has been completed. Communications and patriotic emulation movements to celebrate the anniversary have been implemented in a practical manner.

The province has also basically completed the organisation plan for the ceremony, the preparation of documents and items to be exhibited, and the coordination with the Vietnam Television to broadcast the ceremony live. Regarding the symposium, the provincial Party Committee has worked with the Party Central Committee’s Information and Education Commission and the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics to evaluate the speeches to be delivered at the symposium.

Addressing the meeting, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Lam Thi Phuong Thanh spoke highly of the activeness of and coordination among agencies and sectors of the province.

She asked the relevant sides to ensure the quality of the celebrations as well as the reception of participants in the events.

Particularly, communications about the life and career of Hoang Van Thu need to be enhanced on the mass media both in and outside Lang Son province. The popularisation of the celebrating activities in Lang Son city, Van Lang district and on key roads of the province should also be carried out properly to welcome the anniversary, the official added./.
