Summary of patriotic emulation movement among Catholics

On the afternoon of April 12, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee held a conference to summarize the patriotic emulation movement among Catholics in the province in 2017-2022 period.

Mr. Hoang Van Nghiem, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation spoke at the conference.

Attending the conference were Mr.Hoang Van Nghiem, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Mr.Ho Tien Thieu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Nong Luong Chan, Member of Standing Committee of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; leaders of the Provincial People’s Council, departments, sectors, commissions, mass organizations of the province, Fatherland Front Committees of districts and city, and typical dignitaries, positions, priests and Laity people in the province.

In the province, there are currently 3 religions with a large number of followers: Buddhism, Catholicism and Protestantism with a total of 11,284 followers, accounting for 1.44% of the province’s population. In recent years, in response to the patriotic emulation movement launched by the Party, State and Vietnam Fatherland Front and the movement “All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas, live a good life – a good religion” launched by the Vietnam Catholic Solidarity Committee, Catholics in Lang Son province and people of all ethnic groups in the province always unite to well observe the Party’s guidelines and policies, the State’s laws, accompany in all areas of social life, actively developing the economy, building new rural areas, civilized city, building cultural life, participating in ensuring national defense, security and social security…

In the period of 2017 – 2022, Catholics in the province have donated billions of VND, donated thousands of square meters of land, thousands of labor days to build a new countryside; donate money and material worth over 800 million VND/year to carry out charity work… The material and spiritual life of Catholics is constantly improving. Every year, 100% of residential areas register to build cultural residential areas, 99% of households register to strive for the title of culture family.

At the conference, Mr. Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee informed about the socio-economic development situation of the province, recognized the contributions of Catholic compatriots in the overall achievements of the province over the past time. He wished that the Catholics in the area would continue to unite, live a good life, good religious, participate in patriotic emulation movements, contribute to building Lang Son province more and more rich, beautiful and civilized.

Mr. Ho Tien Thieu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee informed about the socio-economic development situation of the province at the conference.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee recognized and praised the achievements of Catholic groups and individuals in the province in the patriotic emulation movement over the years.

In order to effectively implement the patriotic emulation movement among Catholics in the province in the period of 2022 – 2027, he proposed: Party committees, authorities, Fatherland Front, and socio-political organizations of the province should focus on strictly grasping the resolutions and directives of the central and provincial governments on religious work; consistently implement the policy of respecting and guaranteeing the right to freedom of belief in accordance with law; stepping up campaigns and patriotic emulation movements among people of all religions; building a great national unity block, working together towards the goal of “Rich people, strong country, democracy, justice and civilization”, building Lang Son province to develop quickly and sustainably.

At the same time, he also suggested that the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations continue to perform well their role of bridging, gathering, uniting and encouraging Catholics to promote good values, uphold civic responsibility, actively respond to patriotic emulation movements, strive to have more and more religious establishments, many typical individuals in socio-economic development, building cultural life, maintaining security and order…

In the program, the conference consulted and sent a delegation to attend the 8th Congress of Catholics for national construction & defense.

On this occasion, the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee awarded certificates of merit to 2 groups and 8 individuals with excellent achievements; gave gifts to 33 typical individuals implemented the patriotic emulation movement among Catholics in the province in the period of 2017-2022.
