Creating a source to develop Party members “Nurture” from students

Developing party members as students will contribute to “nurturing” positive factors with knowledge and youth, creating a source of inheritance for the Party. At the same time, it will create conditions for students and elite youth union members to soon realize the Party’s ideals, raise their sense of learning, cultivate and practice, promote their role as role models in activities, help them have a good orientation after graduating from school.

Students of Huu Lung High School read the oath at the Party admission ceremony in Hang Pai communal house

Developing party members who are high school students is one of the contents of Directive No. 34-CT/TW dated May 30, 1998 of the 8th Politburo on “Strengthening political and ideological work; strengthening Party organizations, mass organizations and developing Party members in schools”. At the same time, Resolution No. 25-NQ/TW dated July 25, 2008 of the 10th Party Central Committee on “Strengthening the Party’s leadership in youth work in the period of accelerating industrialization and modernization” has set the goal of “Striving for at least 70% of new party members to be admitted from youth union members”.

In the school year 2022-2023, the province has 37 high schools, 11 centers of continuing education with nearly 30,000 students. This is an abundant human resource to foster and create a source for the Party, so these school party cells have promoted propaganda for students about the regulations and conditions for admission when they reach the age of 18. At the same time, they orgranized practical activities such as traditional talks, launching emulation movements, creating an environment for children to practice and strive. As a result, at the end of the 2022-2023 school year, the whole province had 8 students admitted to the party, creating positive signals to “nurture” party members as students.

Student Vu Minh Phuc, a student of class 12A8 is one of three students of Huu Lung High School who were admitted to the Party on May 24, 2023 at Hang Pai communal house (Thuy Hung commune, Cao Loc district) – where the establishment of the province’s first Party cell took place, said “I feel very moved and at the same time honored because my long-standing dream and aspiration of being in the Party’s ranks has been fulfilled. I am even more honored to be admitted at the place where the first Party cell of Lang Son province was established. My most emotional moment was when I took the oath in front of the Party and National Flag, in front of the portrait of President Ho Chi Minh. This will be an important mark in my life, a motivation for me to try and make more efforts, to strive hard to be worthy of being a good party member dedicating to my homeland and country.

Also in May,2023 5 students from high schools: Cao Loc, Dong Dang, Ba Son and Center for Vocational Education – Continuing Education of Cao Loc district were admitted to the party at Hang Pai communal. In particular, thanks to outstanding achievements in study as well as in movements and union activities, student Hua Thi Son, a student of class 12A2 at Cao Loc High School, Cao Loc district was honored to become a party member when she was still in school. At the Party admission ceremony, her face lit up with pride when she was honored to stand in front of the national flag, the Party flag and the portrait of President Ho Chi Minh to read the oath. Son shared: Being a member of the Party is a great honor for me. To be worthy of this honor, I will strive to study, practice, as well as strive to raise awareness and responsibility to always be worthy of being an exemplary Party member.

Find out at schools where students have been admitted to the party recently, to create a source for admission of party members, right from the beginning of the school year, when new students enter 10th grade, the party cell of schools have assigned the task to the school delegation to review and make a list of students with good academic performance and excellent youth union members to put them into the category of “nurture” associated with orientation, idealistic education, politics, and Party awareness for students. On that basis, the Party Committee assigned Party members to accompany, support and create conditions for them to participate in exams for excellent students and skills tests to affirm their capacity. Additionally, the party cells encouraged and mobilized the children to participate in the activities and movements of the youth union so that they can show their full abilities, qualities and practice to be in the ranks of the Party.

It can be seen that the source of party development in high schools and continuing education is very abundant. However, according to research, 100% of expenditures and school party committees in 37 high schools and 11 centers of continuing education in the province in the last two terms have failed to admit new party members from the school’s students and most have never admitted new party members as students. Many reasons were given by the party cells and party committees of schools such as the factor that stipulates the conditions for reaching 18 years of age, so some children at the end of the school year are not old enough to enroll; And for children born from January to May, the time is short, not enough to carry out the admission process…

In order to overcome those problems, in recent years, in addition to focusing on propagating students about the policy of admitting young Party members and creating a favorable environment for them to contribute and grow up, while students are in 11th grade, the school party cells have reviewed the eligible students to develop a plan to monitor, help, and determine the goals to strive for. From there, there is a step-by-step plan to educate and train students with excellent academic results; create conditions for children to participate in movements and union activities, thereby expressing themselves, meeting standards, and creating conditions for party membership when they are old enough.

Sharing about Party development in schools, Mr. Nguyen Van Toan, Deputy Head of the Organizing Commission of the Provincial Party Committee said: In order for the development of party members in schools to be effective, in the coming time, schools need to raise awareness and responsibilities of all levels of party committees, party organizations, and school organizations, especially the leader about the meaning and importance of the work of developing party members among students, considering this an important and regular task in the party building work. At the same time, schools focus on leading and directing the organization of the school’s delegation to improve the quality of political and ideological education and union activities, thereby selecting and fostering outstanding students so that student in youth union members have conditions to practice, dedicate and soon be in the ranks of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The interest in creating a source of party admission by students has shown positive and optimistic signals. Therefore, along with the initiative in creating sources and fostering of party cells and party committees in schools, in the coming time, students need to continue training to not only study well but also have good moral qualities, have ideals, aspirational dedication and aim to become a party member, contribute youth to build the homeland and nation.
