Emulation campaign launched to mark Hoang Van Thu’s 110th birth anniversary

(LSO) – The Lang Son People’s Committee on August 19 morning launched an emulation campaign to mark the 110th birth anniversary of Hoang Van Thu (November 4, 1909 – November 4, 2019) and the 188th founding anniversary of Lang Son province (November 4, 1831 – November 4, 2019); and to call for support of the rural road building drive as part of the new rural area building programme.

Attending the launch were Hoang Van Nghiem, Standing Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council; Pham Ngoc Thuong, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; leaders of the provincial committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; officials from local authorities and the armed forces; and youth and business representatives.

Addressing the ceremony, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Pham Ngoc Thuong stressed that the emulation campaign is expected to create an enthusiastic atmosphere throughout the entire political system and across all fields of politics, culture-society, national defence and security in the province. He expressed his hope that the campaign will help discover new models and exemplary persons with good and creative practices which can be popularized, thus demonstrating the pride of local people and armed force in the great contribution that Hoang Van Thu has made to the national liberation cause.

The emulation campaign will focus on administrative reform, office manners; economic development and investment promotion; support and assistance for enterprises towards the goal of having over 100 new enterprises established and operate effectively during the course of the campaign; and implementation of key projects and schemes of the province.

Other goals of the campaign are to promote agricultural and forestry production; synchronously implement measures under the national target programme on new rural area building; effectively realise socio-cultural targets and tasks; build the people-based defence in combination with people-based security posture, maintain political security and social order and safety as well as national sovereignty and security of the border; and continue to push forward the emulation campaign on enhancing leadership and combat capacity of grassroots Party organisations.

Also at the launch of the emulation campaign, the provincial People’s Committee appealed for support and donations of authorities at all levels, all sectors, organisations and individuals for the rural road building drive under the new style rural area building programme.

In response to an early appeal letter of the provincial People’s Committee, 35 enterprises and units in and outside the province have contributed nearly 14 billion VND since August 10, 2019, to the rural road building drive. At the emulation campaign’s launch, delegates also made contributions to the effort.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee presented certificates of merit to enterprises that donated 500 million VND and more to the new rural area building programme in 2019.
