At the meeting, the Ministry of Health informed about the results of the implementation of health work in the first 6 months of 2022, accordingly, the health sector has drastically, synchronously and effectively implemented solutions to well perform the “dual task” – both preventing pandemics, improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, ensuring social security, and protecting and taking care of the people’s health.

Regarding the COVID-19 pandemic situation, as of June 18, 2022, the whole country has recorded more than 10.7 million cases of COVID-19; over 9.5 million people have recovered from the disease; 43,083 deaths (the death rate compared to the total number of cases in Vietnam is at 0.4%, much lower than the world average of 1.2%). In the field of vaccination, by June 17, 2022, 225.2 million doses of vaccine have been administered nationwide, of which the proportion of people aged 18 and over receiving the 1st and 2nd dose is approximately 100%; the rate of 3rd injection is 64.5%; the rate of the 4th injection is 11.5%.

At the meeting, units and localities raised a number of difficulties in implementing the 3rd and 4th dose of COVID-19 vaccination for people such as some parts of the people have a negligent and subjective mentality in pandemic prevention; there is a lot of information about the side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine, leading to panic and anxiety; Communication on pandemic prevention is gradually decreasing…

Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized: The COVID-19 pandemic has been controlled, but the risk that the disease can enter and spread in the community is always present. Therefore, units need to continue to strictly implement Resolution 128/NQ-CP dated October 11, 2021 of the Government on promulgating the temporary regulation “Safely adapting, flexibly, effectively controlling COVID-19 pandemic” and actively accelerate the recovery and socio-economic development in the new situation.

The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that localities must speed up the vaccination schedule against COVID-19 with 3rd and 4th doses. The Ministry of Health must issue detailed and specific documents on subjects receiving the 3rd and the 4th  doses before June 22, 2022. At the same time, all levels, sectors and localities continue to strengthen propaganda on pandemic prevention and control, especially propaganda on new strains of the SARS-CoV-2 virus; develop sanctions to handle cases of non-compliance with the vaccination against COVID-19.

Medical units proactively remove difficulties in centralized drug bidding to ensure accuracy, publicity, transparency, absolutely no shortage of drugs and medical supplies to best serve health care needs of the people.
