Lang Son City joins hands to “Give back the gratitude”

In the past time, Lang Son city has effectively implemented the preferential policy of people with meritorious services to the revolution in the area, thereby contributing to the expression of the moral tradition of ” When drinking water, think of its source” Give back the gratitude” of our nation.

After a visit to the old battlefield with the delegation of people with meritorious services to Lang Son city, Mr. Ho Cong Khoi, a ¼-ranked wounded soldier in Cua Bac block, Chi Lang ward was still touched when he recounted his memories of coming to the Quang Tri citadel.  He shared, “Every time I come back here, I have many indescribable emotions and anguish. Quang Tri citadel in those days was a fierce battlefield full of blood and fire. During the years of fighting here, many of my comrades fell. The blood and bones of my comrades have melted into the ground, immortal with time. The trip was very meaningful to me and the members of the delegation.”

Supported by the ward, block as well as the City’s Gratitude Fund to repair houses on this occasion, Ms. Luong Thi Pao (Tran Quang Khai 2 block, Chi Lang ward), wife of martyr Nong Ngoc Thanh who died in 1986 at the Southwest Battlefield was very happy and emotional. Ms. Pao shared: “I am old, weak, no longer able to work, so for many years, even though the house has leaked and deteriorated, I cannot afford to repair it. Now being supported 35 million VND to repair the house, I am very happy, in the future, the family will improve the accommodation, continue to overcome difficulties to rise up in life.”

The above are just 2 out of 685 people with meritorious services and their relatives who are receiving monthly allowances of Lang Son city, being supported in policies and regimes for people with meritorious services and social security policies in the area. From 2017 to now, the city has paid attention to direct the payment of monthly preferential allowances correctly, fully and accurately with a total payment of over 150 billion VND.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Van, Vice Chairwoman of Lang Son City People’s Committee said: Lang Son city is one of the areas with the highest number of revolutionary people with meritorious services in the province. Over the years, the Party Committee and the city government have always clearly determined that taking care of the material and spiritual life of war invalids, martyrs’ families and people with meritorious services beneficiaries is the responsibility of the whole political system.

People with meritorious services in Lang Son city received free medical examination at Ngoc Lan International General Clinic

In the past 5 years, from mobilizing the “Gratitude” Fund, the province’s support budget and the support of organizations, benefactors, the city has supported the construction and repair of houses for 147 people with meritorious service families with a budget of over 4 billion VND. From the beginning of 2022 until now, the city has supported the repair of 6 houses with a total cost of 170 million VND. Along with that, the city settled the preferential regime in education and training for 200 turns of pupils and students who are the children of people with meritorious services to the revolution; implementing policies to support the purchase of orthopedic devices and equipment for more than 200 subjects; nursing more than 1,250 people with meritorious services; organizing annual health check-ups for nearly 2,000 people with meritorious services and their relatives.

Notably, the city has done a good job of socializing, mobilizing the cooperation and contribution of philanthropic organizations and individuals in the area to carry out the work of health care for people with meritorious services. In 2 years (2020 and 2022), Ngoc Lan International General Clinic has sponsored a health examination program for nearly 900 wounded soldiers and relatives of people with meritorious services in the city with a total value of nearly 800 million VND.

Mr. Lang Van Dinh, Director of Ngoc Lan International General Clinic under Thien Ngoc Lan Medical Joint Stock Company said, “The unit pays special attention to the coordination of free medical examination for people with meritorious services in the area. In July 2020, the clinic cooperated with functional departments of Lang Son city to organize free examination for 486 people with meritorious services with a total value of about 350 million VND. In 2022, from July 18 to July 25, we continue to coordinate to organize free examination for over 450 cases of people with meritorious services in the area, it is expected that the package of free health check and medicine will be worth 1 million VND/person.

The meaningful and practical activities from the care of sick people in Lang Son city have been achieved, contributing to gratitude for the contributions and sacrifices of heroes, martyrs, wounded soldiers, people with meritorious services in the city. The loss and grief are further alleviated and shared when the people with meritorious services and their relatives are cared for and taken care of, gradually raising the people with meritorious service’s living standard to higher than or equal to the living standard of the people in the place of residence.
