The imprint of summer volunteer campaign of the youth

After 3 months of exciting activities, the Summer Volunteer Campaign 2022 of the youth in the province has officially ended. With the motto “The pioneering, volunteering, creative youth of Lang Son for the community”, the campaign has had many practical activities for the community, targeting remote and disadvantaged areas.

Ms. Le Thuy Dung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, said: “The Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign 2022 was organized simultaneously and widely with the initiative and creativity in accordance with the actual needs of each unit, creating a positive social impression, ensuring 2 programs, 4 campaigns associated with each group of beneficiaries. In particular, activities have been organized targeting remote areas. Consequently, the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign 2022 has achieved positive results, having practical significance for the community.”

In order for campaign to spread widely, all levels of union in the province have strengthened propaganda about the purpose, meaning and content of the campaign to a large number of youth union members. At the same time, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union directed youth union units in the districts and communes to regularly post news, articles and photos of activities of the campaign, thereby creating exciting competitive atmosphere among the youth union units in the area. Overcoming difficulties in human and material resources in organizing and implementing youth union activities at the grassroots level, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union actively connected and encouraged the youth unions at district and commune levels to attract twinning units, organizations and individuals participating in the summer youth volunteer campaign. The youth union of districts, city and affiliated youth unions also actively develop detailed implementation plans based on the actual situation of their units and localities

Closely following the theme of the campaign, 18/18 youth union of districts, city and affiliated youth unions have operated the campaign with activities such as building new rural areas, urban civilization, environmental protection, response to change climate, People’s health care, taking care of children, supporting digital transformation, enhancing digital capacity for young people… The highlight of the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign 2022 is the activity at the Thuy Hung Border Startup Youth Village and examination support program. At Thuy Hung Border Startup Youth Village, there were 12 volunteer groups with more than 270 youth union members participating in the implementation of activities including repairing roads, concreting roads, installing road lighting works, transferring science and technology, supporting young households in economic development. In examination support program, all levels of the youth unions in the province have mobilized more than 300 million VND from socialization resources to award 280 scholarships, 750 sets of school supplies, 20 rooms for rent, 1,120 sets of free food; 13,000 bottles of water and milk; more than 500 bags of hand soap… for students with difficult circumstances and examination sites. Additionally all levels of the youth unions in the province have formed 97 youth volunteer groups with 1,300 volunteers to create 11 online examination review channels for students and support them during the exam.

Youth union member Tran Thanh Huyen, Dong Kinh ward, Lang Son city said: “Participating in summer volunteer activities helps me to realize the need of the cooperation and contribution of youth union members. The works that I have participated in such as lighting up rural roads, cleaning the environment, repairing houses for people with difficult circumstances… not only have practical meaning for the beneficiaries but also help me better understand my responsibility to the community and society.”

From June to the end of August 2022, the youth of the province achieved and exceed ed 11/11 targets set by the Provincial Youth Union in the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign. In which, the province has repaired 62 km of roads, opened 25 km of new roads; built 6 civilized streets; planted over 32,000 new trees; medical screened for post-COVID-19 and psychological counseled for 3,700 people; built 5 new houses on March 26, renovated 51 toilets for schools… typically Chi Lang District Youth Union, the Youth Union of Provincial Agency Block, the Youth Union of Lang Son Medical College, the Youth Union of Provincial Public Security Department… Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign 2022 has finished, it left not only the meaningful works but also cultural, spiritual value and beautiful images of the young generation of Lang Son.
