In order to promote creative activities in the province, the Department of Science and Technology has advised the Provincial People’s Committee to create the organization of contests and contests suitable for each specific audience such as: The contest “Creative youth and children” is held annually for students from 6 to 18 years old, in order to encourage them to do scientific research, develop thinking, creativity and applied skills to solve problems arising in practice; contest “Technical Innovation” held every 2 years for all ages with the goal of promoting the creative labor movement of all classes of people in the province in the field of science and technology, applying technical solutions to production and life, contributing to socio-economic development; the contest “Start-up innovation” for collectives, individuals and businesses with start-up ideas; Initiative work for cadres, civil servants, employees at agencies, units, businesses… Competitions and contests are held regularly and continuously, attracting a large number of people from all walks of life in the province to participate. Since then, many innovations, technical improvements and useful solutions have been applied to real life.

Typical in the initiative promotion activity is the contest “Start-up innovation”. Although it has only been held since 2019, every year, the contest always attracts startup ideas from organizations, individuals and businesses in the province to participate. Up to now, the contest has had 128 participating ideas, projects, products and business models, most of which have been implemented and applied in real life and promoted positive effects. Some successful ideas can be mentioned such as: Thuan Anh corn vermicelli products, garlic dried pork, organic vegetable production model… Currently, the products are not only consumed in the province but also reached the market of provinces and cities throughout the country.

Additionally, the Department of Science and Technology also organizes conferences in districts and city to propagate and guide skills in implementing and writing initiatives, presenting creative ideas. Regularly propagate about contests, projects, solutions, winning ideas at contests on the media of the province and the department in order to encourage creative activities in the province as well as attract a large number of people to participate. From 2016 to now, the Department of Science and Technology and related units in the province have organized nearly 20 conferences for more than 3,000 people on initiatives and creative activities. Competitions and contests have attracted more than 900 solutions, creative ideas, and technical innovations. In which, 11 initiatives and solutions won national prizes. The province also has 171 applications for recognition of provincial initiatives from 19 agencies and units. In which, there are 84 applications recognized as provincial initiatives.

Mr. Phan Van Thang, teacher of Vu Le High School, Bac Son district said: I find contests very meaningful in motivating people to create new products and solutions that meet the needs of social life. Not only do I directly participate, I also inspire students in the school to do scientific research. Therefore, in the past 5 years, almost every year, I have directly participated or guided students to propose ideas, solutions and products to participate in creative competitions.

In social life, there are always problems that require each individual and collective to creatively apply knowledge and experience to solve. The encouragement of creative activities not only solves life’s problems but also contributes to the creation of economic and social values, contributing to the overall development of the province.
