Launching Action Month for Gender Equality, preventing and responding to gender-based violence

On the morning of November 16, the Provincial Committee for the Advancement of Women held a ceremony to launch the Action Month for Gender Equality, prevention and response to gender-based violence in 2022. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of the the Provincial Committee for the Advancement of Women.

In recent years, gender equality work in the province has achieved remarkable achievements, people’s awareness of gender equality has been increasingly raised. The work of female cadres has been paid attention, contributing to increasing the proportion of female cadres in the contingent of leading cadres at all levels, branches and fields.

The action month for gender equality, prevention and response to gender-based violence in 2022 has the theme “Ensuring social security, empowering and creating opportunities for women and girls to realize gender equality and eliminate gender-based violence” took place from November 15 to December 15, 2022.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee suggested: All levels, sectors, socio-political organizations, People’s Committees of districts and city continue to strengthen propaganda, popularization and thorough understanding, and strictly and synchronously implement the central and provincial regulations on gender equality work, for the advancement of women and girls; organize activities to respond to the month of action, renew, diversify forms of propaganda and training suitable for each target group in schools, businesses, residential communities, join hands to eliminate gender inequality.

At the same time, all units fully implement supporting policies to ensure social security for the people in general, women and children in particular; organize activities to support women and children in difficult circumstances; continue to effectively implement the implementation plan of the program on prevention and response to gender-based violence in the period 2021-2025 in the province; strengthen inter-sectoral inspection on gender equality and OSH at agencies, units and localities, strictly handle violations.

The Vice Chairman suggested that every woman and girl should strive in study and work to affirm and improve her role and position in society; acquire knowledge and skills to protect themselves; courageously, strongly speak up when being discriminated against, violent.

Leaders of the Provincial People’s Committee and leaders of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs gave gifts to female delegates with difficult circumstances to master the family economy and master in life.

At the launching ceremony, the delegates watched a reportage on gender equality and advancement of Women in the province; leaders of Lang Son City People’s Committee spoke in response to the month of action; the Provincial Committee for the Advancement of Women gave gifts to 22 female delegates with difficult circumstances to master the family economy and master in life.

After the launching ceremony, youth union members and youth marched to propagate the month of action for gender equality, prevention and response to gender-based violence in 2022 on the main roads of Lang Son city.
