Lang Son has 1 contestant who won a bronze medal at the 2023 Asia International Mathematical Olympiad (AIMO)

On August 8, in Malaysia, student Vi Van Thao (born in 2008), Tay ethnic group, Na Pai village, Tan Van commune, Binh Gia district won a bronze medal and a consolation prize at the 2023 Asia International Mathematical Olympiad (AIMO).

AIMO (Asia International Mathematical Olympiad) is Asia’s largest and most prestigious international math competition, a competition entirely in English for students from grades 2 to 12, with 3 rounds including: regional, national and international. The competition is organized annually by the International AIMO Executive Committee of the Asian Mathematical Olympiad Association.

In June 2023, student Vi Van Thao, a 9th grader, To Hieu Secondary School, Binh Gia town, Binh Gia district started to participate in the 2023 AIMO  competition. Thao excellently won the regional gold medal; silver medal in the national round; bronze medal and 1 consolation prize in the international final round.

This is also the only contestant in Lang Son province to win prizes at the international final round of the competion. Currently, Thao has passed the exam to grade 10, Chu Van An specialized school, Lang Son city. It is known that in Vietnam, there are more than 30 excellent students who entered the international competition round to compete with other contestants from 20 countries around the world.
