Lang Son has 1 project that won first prize in the national final round of the contest “Women promoting indigenous resources”

According to the Provincial Women’s Union, on the morning of October 14, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Women’s Union organized the awarding of the national final prize of the 2023 “Women promoting indigenous resources” contest. In 33 projects received awards, Lang Son province had 1 project winning first prize.

 Attending the award ceremony from Lang Son province were Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; leader of the Provincial Women’s Union.

After more than a month of officially launching the contest from mid-March 2023, at the provincial and city level reception and screening round, there were 2,024 projects/startup ideas participating in the contest (an increase of 30.67% compared to the 2021 contest). According to the contest’s regulations, each province/city selects up to 5 typical projects to participate in the regional preliminary round, accordingly, 273 projects are eligible to participate.

After the preliminary rounds, semi-finals, and finals at the regional level (North, Central, and South), the Organizing Committee selected 33 startup projects that won third prize or higher to continue participating in the national final round. Notably, out of a total of 33 projects, there are 2 projects by women with disabilities (accounting for 6%) and 7 startup projects by ethnic minority women (accounting for 21.2%). These are all projects/ideas that are innovative, capable of registering intellectual property, capable of commercialization, and have the potential to develop and enhance the value of indigenous resources and resources; create jobs, improve the stand of women…

At the awards ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded 1 special prize, 3 first prizes, 4 second prizes, 6 third prizes and 19 consolation prizes to projects participating in the contest. In which the project “Developing the value chain of organic wind-hanging Vanh Khuyen persimmons to create jobs and sustainable livelihoods for Tay and Nung ethnic women in the Xu Lang border area” by Mrs. Vuong Thi Thuong, Director of Toan Thuong Agricultural Products Cooperative, Na Sam town, Van Lang district won first prize.

The competition is a playground that connects businesses, investors, partners, and relevant agencies to support and accompany startup projects that can exploit and use energy, resources economically and efficiently based on science and technology, applying digital technology and digital transformation… to realize ideas and business start-up projects of women across the country, contributing to improving economic empowerment of women and promotion of gender equality.

During the program, leaders of the Vietnam Women’s Union launched the 2024 Women’s Startup Contest with the theme “Women’s creative startups and green transformation”.
