“Teachers in my eyes” contest: Spreading the tradition of respecting teachers

With the form of contesting through videos and images of dedicated teachers, the “Teachers in my eyes” contest has attracted a large number of students in the province to participate. The contest is a voice from the heart, the love between teachers and students with touching stories, contributing to spreading the tradition of respecting teachers in schools and communities.

The “Teachers in My Eyes” contest was launched by the Vietnam Education Union in 2019, to discover examples of teachers who have a positive impact and influence, motivating and inspiring students. Through that, the contest propagated, honored and replicated good examples and images of teachers and the education sector. The 2023 contest has received participation from 38/40 affiliated grassroots trade unions, 5 education and training departments; There are 90 works participating in the provincial competition, an increase of 2 times compared to 2022. The industry union established a judging panel, agreed to award 15 certificates of first, second, third and consolation prizes, and at the same time selected 3 works of the best quality to send to the national final round at Vietnam Education Union. At the final round, Lang Son province was honored to win 3 prizes: first, second, and third; Lang Son Education Union was honored to receive a certificate of merit from the Vietnam Education Union for its outstanding achievements in organizing the competition.

This year’s entries all have the content of wanting to convey their thoughts and aspirations,  their gratitude to the teachers who have helped them overcome difficulties in studying and in life so that they can become more mature and steadier on the path they have chosen… Vu Hoang Thao Ly, class 12A3, Huu Lung High School, author who won first prize nationwide in the “Teachers in My Eyes” contest shared: I am a person with an unattractive appearance, often a topic of discussion for everyone around me. It was my homeroom teacher Nguyen Thi Ngoc Thuy who helped me overcome all barriers and low self-esteem, helped me become more sociable. I understand that nothing can repay the great effort you have given me. Through participating in the contest video, I can express my feelings and gratitude for my beloved ” ferryman”.

The 2023 “Teachers in My Eyes” contest was held and received a great response from students nationwide with more than 1,000 entries.

After 8 months with 2 preliminary and final competition rounds, the Vietnam Education Union selected 32 nominations to present in the Golden Sunbeams gala, awarding the “Teachers in your eyes 2023” contest.

As a result of the final round, this year’s contest has 1 Special prize, 4 First prizes, 6 Second prizes, 7 Third prizes, and 15 Consolation prizes. The units awarded certificates of merit for good achievements in organizing the competition are Hanoi Education Union, Tuyen Quang Education Union, Lang Son Education Union, and Polytechnic University Trade Union.

 

Mrs. Ha Thi Thuy Hang, Chairwoman of Lang Son Education Union, said: This year’s competition, units have invested in choosing characters and how to present their works in both form and content. Many quality works, reflecting diversity and richness with short, concise, attractive, condensed narratives, with realistic images, using artistic techniques and effects, have inspire viewers and bring many positive emotions. Many entries have summarized the current situation and trends of young people, and the understanding and sympathy of teachers for them. Teachers are honored through the eyes and feelings of their students while directly sitting in the school chair, further enhancing the nobility of the silent “ferryman”. In the coming time, we will continue to widely propagate the contest and launch the 5th contest in 2024.

To continue to implement the contest well in the following years, most schools in the province have had many ways to do it, such as: organizing extracurricular activities to connect teachers and students; talk on topics related to students’ psychological and physiological issues; Establishing a school psychology consulting team…

Mrs. Le Thi Manh Khuong, Vice Principal of Chu Van An High School for the Gifted, Lang Son City, a unit evaluated by the Provincial Education Union as typical in implementing the ” Teachers in my eyes ” Contest, said: In recent years, the contest has received a positive response from students. Students proactively invest in scripts, filming skills, and video clip editing to complete their work in the best possible way. The “Teachers in My Eyes” contest is a place for students to spread the tradition of respecting teachers to the community.

Closing the contest filled with humanity in which each work is the love and voice of students expressing gratitude to their teachers. Through the students’ perspective, each video clip portrays beautiful, warm portraits of teachers. The gratitude, appreciation, and good feelings that children have for their teachers and aunts will forever be the equipment for the young generation to steadily walk on the path of life.
