Ho Tuan Anh – A national outstanding ethnic minority student

In order to motivate and encourage students in mountainous areas to excel in their studies, every year, the Committee for Ethnic Affairs coordinates with the Ministry of Education and Training and the Central Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to organize a Commendation Ceremony for outstanding and typical ethnic minority students and youth. With many outstanding achievements, Ho Tuan Anh, a student of the Tay ethnic group, class 11B, Chu Van An High School for the Gifted, Lang Son city is one of 142 students and young people nationwide honored at the Commendation Ceremony in 2023.

We met Tuan Anh when he had just returned from the Commendation Ceremony from the capital Hanoi. Tuan Anh said: “When I knew that I would be rewarded, I was very honored and proud. This also motivated me to try harder in my studies.”

Ho Tuan Anh is from Minh Son commune, Huu Lung district. From an early age, Tuan Anh loved researching, creating and assembling objects. When entering high school, he decided to choose  Physics major to satisfy his passion. At Chu Van An High School for the Gifted, Tuan Anh was selected by the teachers to join the team of excellent students in Physics, he participated in scientific research competition and achieved many achievements. Specifically, he achieved a Gold medal for the project “Potential photovoltaic techniques for internet of things applications using solar cells” at the 2023 International IoT Olympic competition in Indonesia, a Bronze medal at the Korea International Youth Olympiad (KIYO-4i) 2023 with the topic “Synthesizing iron(III) oixide for application of drug delivery and thermotherapy in cancer treatment”, the First prize in the Science and Technology competition for provincial high school students in the 2023 – 2024 school year (his project was selected to participate in the National Science and Technology competition for high school students)…

Sharing about his learning methods as well as balancing his study and scientific research time, Tuan Anh said: “In class, I always ask teachers and regularly discuss with friends about questions about the lesson to expand knowledge. Research for me is like a break after stressful classes.”

Besides having good academic achievements, Ho Tuan Anh always actively participates in extracurricular and volunteer activities organized by the school, the school youth union and higher youth union. Typical, he participated in the campaigns “Red Poinciana”, “Spring for you”, “Blue summer volunteering”, “Green Sunday”… He always tries to complete each of them well and achieve the highest possible result.

Ms. Vu Dieu Thuy, head teacher of class 11B, said: “Ho Tuan Anh is a good student, serious in studying and training, he is always an exemplary student and a leader in all activities. With a friendly and sociable personality, he is loved by friends and teachers.”

It is believed that with such achievements, in the coming time, Ho Tuan Anh will always be successful on the journey ahead.
