Lang Son gives strength to residents in quarantine

(LSO) – Amid the complicated development of COVID-19 outbreak in the country and the world, the Lang Son provincial Military Command has directed officers and soldiers to coordinate with competent forces to strengthen inspection and tighten security in quarantine areas, and help those in quarantine feel secure.

After a period of settling down, COVID-19 epidemic has recently become complicated. As of March 8 afternoon, the Health Ministry reported that there were four cases positive for SARS-CoV-2 and one suspected case in Hanoi. The government asked localities to tighten monitoring of those returning home from abroad and offer medical supervision to them. At local border gates, under the direction of the provincial steering committee on COVID-19 prevention and control, militia and border guards are on duty round-the-clock at trails and border crossings to prevent illegal migration and immigration. At major border gates, those returning from China were screened for body temperature and disease symptoms. The provincial Military Command’s information and education force also raised public awareness of the effort and took residents to quarantined areas.

Col. Bui Van Minh, information and education assistant at the provincial Military Command, said he was assigned to perform the task at Huu Nghi international border gate, including explaining to those returning from abroad the need for quarantine. “We always stand side by side with residents who must follow quarantine regulations,” he said.

At the quarantine area at Regiment 123, upon getting the latest information about the number of cases, the Regiment has stepped up awareness raising campaign by coming to each site to help resident better understand mainstream information on the internet, encourage them to read newspapers and watch TV to grasp correct news regarding the epidemic. Lang Son has so far recorded not any infection case.

Regiment 123’s officers raise awareness of quarantined people of the effort

Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, a native of Ha Hoa township, Ha Hoa district, Phu Tho province said via information about new infection cases on the social media, she felt worried about herself and relatives. But when Regiment 123 officers came to explain, she felt more secure and followed quarantine regulations. Tran Thi Vui from Thuong Coc commune, Lac Son district, Hoa Binh province said with regular support from the Regiment, she felt relieved to stay there and hoped that her relatives will be safe amid the epidemic.

As of March 8, nearly 700 residents were quarantined in three concentrated areas. Witnessing them playing volleyball, badminton, shuttle cock and dancing on the occasion of International Women’s Day (March 8), we felt at ease and the sense of responsibility of officers there in the fight against the epidemic. It was the success of information and education work by local armed forces in quarantine areas, contributing to making quarantine areas peaceful and those staying here feel secure until the day of reuniting with their families.
