Dong Lam grassland: The potential “pearl” of Huu Lung tourism

(LSO) – Located within the complex of Huu Lien community tourism, Dong Lam grassland possesses the wonderful beauty that nature endows Huu Lung land. Recognizing the potential of tourism development in Dong Lam, Huu Lung authority and functional agencies have been implementing practical solutions to gradually exploit this potential “pearl” to contribute to tourism development in particular and socio-economic of the district in general.

In the middle of May, driving along the provincial road 243, we arrived at Dong Lam grassland, which was considered by tourists “Ha Long on land” of Xu Lang. There is a vast green valley in front of us, dangerous limestone mountain ranges and a clear stream creating a wonderful terrain. Besides, the herds of horses are grazing, which is also interestingly beautiful. Currently, in Dong Lam, they start doing services such as motorbike taxi, setting up camps for rent, etc to improve local people’s  income. Mr. Vi Van Duc, Doan Ket hamlet, Huu Lien commune, Huu Lung district said: “I feel very proud when my hometown has such a beautiful landscape. Since this tourism area is opened to welcome guests, I have often offered driving service to earn extra income for my family”.

Dong Lam grassland is located in the north of Huu Lien commune, belonging to Doan Ket hamlet, with an area of ​​about 100 ha, located far away from residential areas. In the dry season, Dong Lam impressively beautiful, in the middle of mountains, the vast green natural grass field spreads before our eyes like a wonderful “golf course”; tourists can set up camp to immerse themselves in nature, lie on velvety grass, breath fresh air, listen to murmuring streams, organize picnics, camping, cultural and sport activities, climbing, exploring caves and so on. Especially, in the rainy season (July to October), Dong Lam turns into a both aquatic and mountainous wonder, a vast green sea.

In Dong Lam, visitors can experience other activities such as rafting, relaxing fishing, hiking, sightseeing, exploring caves, kayaking, etc. From 2019 to May 2020, There have already been over 8,000 tourists visiting, experiencing and organizing events in Dong Lam landscapes, of which, let alone the holidays of April 30, May 5, there have been about 5,000 visitors.

Regularly visiting Dong Lam on weekends for camping, Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, Le Loi Ward, Bac Giang City, Bac Giang province said: “I really like the wild beauty of Dong Lam, after hard working days, when I come here, I can feel the peace and relaxation. I would recommend to friends near and far to travel here.

Recently, in order to the contribution of promoting the potential of Dong Lam “pearl” in tourism development, Huu Lung District People’s Committee has implemented many solutions. Specifically, in 2019, the District People’s Committee invested 1.8 billion VND to build a concrete road into the car park and Dong Lam scenic area. At the same time, the District Division of Culture and Information strengthened the propaganda and promotion of Dong Lam grassland’s beauty on social networks and tourism websites of the district an so forth.

Tourism combined with experience is a unique direction, bringing many benefits, is exploited by Huu Lung district. Dong Lam grassland has been operated for tourism service only for about 2 years. However, this is still a new and wild destination. Mr. Khong Hong Minh, Deputy Head of Culture and Information Dision of Huu Lung District said: “In the near future, we will continue to complete the document to submit to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in June 2020 to consider, then send to the Provincial People’s Committee for recognition of provincial-level tourism site, establishing a tourism site management board, issuing a regulation on operation of a tourist attraction management board for Dong Lam landscape. In addition, we also promote tourism promotion and advertisement, calling for investors to contribute to the improvement of facilities and services for tourism in Dong Lam. At the same time, the People’s Committee of Huu Lien commune will be requested to strengthen the management of activities, ensuring order and security for tourists visiting and experiencing in Dong Lam grassland.

With the belief that, with practical actions that the district authority and functional sectors have been implementing, Dong Lam “pearl” will become a new and attractive address for tourists on Lang Son tourist map.
