Bac Son holds huge potential to develop cultural, historical tourism

(LSO) – Tranquil Bac Son district is a wonderland of diverse destinations that deliver big on the country’s magnanimous history and Bac Son civilization that existed more than 10,000 year ago.

In the end of August, many tourists from Hanoi chose to visit historical relic sites in Bac Son district instead other destinations as for them, coming to Bac Son helps raise national pride.

Cao Xuan Doan, a visitor from Hanoi, said: “This is the first time I have visited historical relic sites in Bac Son district. I have been impressed by the historical values of the safety zone, as well as the beauty of endless ripening rice fields and aged-old roofs. For sure, I will come back there to experience the tranquility of this countryside.”

Bac Son is also a special attraction for local tourists. Tran Thi Le Giang in Lang Son city’s Vinh Trai ward, who has just joined a tour in Bac Son, said: “I was deeply touched while witnessing the historical vestiges in the zone and listening to stories about glorious feat of Vietnamese soldiers. The trip created a golden opportunity for me to have a deeper insight into the nation’s origin and history”.

They are two among the many visitors engaging in historical tours in Bac Son district.  Imbued in revolutionary tradition with one national special relic site and 14 provincial relic areas, Bac Son has huge potential to develop historical and cultural tours. Besides, local Bac Son Uprising Museum, which features nearly 400 exhibits, welcomes more than 8,000 foreign and domestic visitors each year. In the first eight months of 2019, some 5,000 people visited the museum, increasing over 2 percent from the same time last year.

According to Hoang The Vinh, head of Bac Son district’s culture-information bureau, many researchers, lecturers and students have come to study historical relic sites in Bac Son district. In addition, they are encouraged to experience other tourist attractions in the locality.

“Local relic sites have become more popular among visitors as we are enhancing the popularization work of the sites on the public media, and the sites have been added to special tours of many travel companies”, he added.

Since 2018, Bac Son district has set up links with over 20 travel companies who came to survey and develop tours to the locality. Currently, 10 tours have been designed suitable for one- to three-day stay.

Director of Phu Loc Phu Tai Tourism Joint Stock Company To Thi Thu Sen said besides historical sites, visitors are also taken to other destinations like Quynh Son community-based tourism village, traditional craft village, Mo Mam spring eco-tourism site and flower valley, among others.

In fact, tourists have expressed their interest in several tours like Quynh Son community-based tourism village – Ra Rieng bridge – Tam Canh pass – Bac Son Uprising Museum – Nghien (burretiodendron hsienmu) forest – Na Lay mountain, Tam Canh pass – Bac Son Uprising Museum – Nghien forest – community-based village- Na Lay mountain, and Tam Canh pass – Bac Son Uprising Museum – Khuoi Noi – Mo Mam spring.

Bac Son district authorities and travel firms have been on the right track to develop local tourism. In the first eight months of this year, the number of arrivals to the locality surged 3 percent year on year to over 72,000.

The provincial People’s Committee recently approved a master plan to develop Bac Son district’s socio-economy, with focus on preserving and promoting historical relic sites in 12 communes of the safety zone by 2025. Accordingly, communes in the zone will be developed into a regional historical, cultural and eco-tourism site.
